Luther star’s “tense” and “darkly comic” new psychological thriller is available to watch right now

Channel 5 is now streaming a new thriller featuring an actor known from the show Luther, as part of a series of new stories.

The anthology series, A Knock at the Door, follows a couple whose peaceful life is disrupted when a mysterious stranger arrives at their home, forcing them to confront secrets from their past.

Featuring Nikki Amuka-Bird, who played DCI Erin Gray in the popular show Luther, and Alan Davies, this series centers on Lenny Bray, a fallen celebrity, and his wife, as they navigate a life-altering night.

You can currently watch A Knock at the Door on Channel 5. It’s part of Play for Today, a collection of dramas shown every Thursday.

The streaming service also features “Never Too Late,” a heartwarming series about discovering love and friendship in your later years. It stars Anita Dobson, known from “EastEnders,” and Nigel Havers, famous for his role in “Coronation Street.”

Last week, Channel 5 debuted the new show Big Winners, starring Sue Johnston (known from Brookside) and Paul Copley (Downton Abbey) as a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when they win the lottery.

On December 11th, don’t miss Special Measures, a fast-paced drama with Jessica Plummer. It’s set in a struggling school in Liverpool during a challenging OFSTED inspection. Throughout a very busy day, Laura Abbott, who has just been promoted, has to deal with exhausted teachers, student problems, and her own personal difficulties.

Channel 5 also features the period drama The Forsytes, which tells the story of a prosperous family of stockbrokers living in late-Victorian London.

This six-episode series is based on the novels of John Galsworthy and tells the story of cousins Jolyon and Soames, played by Danny Griffin and Joshua Orpin respectively. The drama centers on their competition to lead the family company and the complicated ups and downs of their personal lives.

The series was created by Debbie Horsfield, who also wrote Poldark. It features Tuppence Middleton, Stephen Moyer, Millie Gibson, and Eleanor Tomlinson in its cast.

A Knock at the Door is streaming on Channel 5.
