Luke Combs Reveals the Shocking Truth About His ‘Wicked’ Health Battle!
Country singer Luke Combs recently got candid about living with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Born and raised in North Carolina, this 35-year-old individual had the unfortunate experience of battling Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) since they were 12 years old. In February 2024, they shared a stage with Tracy Chapman.
His worst episode happened in January while he was on an international tour.
During an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, he shared insights into the impact of his specific disorder, ‘pure O’ (OCD subtype), on his daily experiences.
He stated that what you really don’t want are those particular thoughts, as they could potentially lead to a negative cycle or pattern.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: “When something triggers stress, you find yourself overwhelmed, and this stress seems to fuel even more anxious thoughts. These thoughts confuse you, and you strive to eliminate them, but ironically, your efforts to remove them only seem to intensify their presence.
He noted that at times the thoughts are violent, making the struggle ‘particularly wicked.’
He expressed that he has to acknowledge these events as they occur and respond with something like, “Oh well, it’s just the way it is.
The celebrity expressed, ‘Although these thoughts are strange, unpleasant, and frustrating, even making me feel insane at times, remember this: if you stop pondering over their origin, they tend to fade away.’
Over the span of over 20 years, Combs has developed strategies for managing his bothersome condition.
He now considers himself an ‘expert’ on combating the tumultuous phases.
When it occurs, it can be utterly overwhelming. If you experience a outbreak of this condition, you might find yourself thinking about it for nearly every minute over several weeks, with approximately 45 seconds out of each minute being dedicated to your thoughts on it, as Combs pointed out.
He’s optimistic about being able to utilize his past experiences to aid those facing similar situations in the future.

At some stage in my life, I’m determined to dedicate time to helping children facing similar challenges, as a father of two,” he expressed.
He mused, ‘Since it repeatedly set me back in my life, when you’re making progress towards achieving something, you’re doing exceptionally well, but then a relapse occurs, causing havoc for half a year… only to find yourself right back at the starting point.’
Combs aims to convey that having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder doesn’t necessarily dictate one’s identity.
The implication is clear: Even if one encounters challenges, it’s feasible to carry on thriving in life, attaining success, nurturing a wonderful family, and fulfilling aspirations, all the while navigating issues that are less than desirable.
Luke married his wife Nicole in August 2020 and they share sons Tex, two, and Beau, one.
