Lucy Markovic, who competed in ‘Australia’s Next Top Model,’ dies at 27
As a devoted movie-goer, I’m deeply saddened to share the news that Lucy Markovic, a radiant figure who once captivated audiences on “Australia’s Next Top Model,” has left us. Lucy, who later graced runways for prestigious brands like Givenchy and Versace, has sadly taken her final walk.
On Thursday, Elite Model Management NYC shared the sad news of model Markovic’s passing on Instagram. Remembered as a “beacon of light,” Markovic fought valiantly against a rare neurological disorder before she passed away at the age of 27. The agency made this announcement.
Markovic experienced a condition called Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in their brain, which is defined as an abnormal tangle of blood vessels that leads to unusual connections between arteries and veins within the brain. This AVM can interfere with the essential process of blood flow between the lungs and heart. Unfortunately, the cause of a brain AVM remains unknown.
On Thursday, Elite paid tribute to Lucy, recalling her as having a remarkably witty and dry sense of humor, possessing a captivating and magnetic character, and cherishing the art of modeling deeply.

It has been reported that Cindyana Santangelo, a generous benefactor, performer on screen, and star of music videos known for her roles in ‘CSI: Miami’ and ‘Married… With Children’, was tragically discovered deceased in the coastal town of Malibu.
The sentence could be rephrased as follows: “She infused grace, power, and charm into her tasks, but what truly set her apart was her authentic self – her kindness, her cheerfulness, her radiance.
On Friday morning, Jelena Markovic, Markovic’s sister, also confirmed the model’s passing. In a joint Instagram post under her sister’s account, Jelena expressed her grief, stating, “No words can express the impact you had on everyone around you.” Jelena shared that she found it hard to accept the loss of her “twin little Bambi,” and her heart was shattered into countless fragments.
Lucy Markovic, hailing from Australia’s Gold Coast, demonstrated her modeling potential at the tender age of 16, during the ninth season of “Australia’s Next Top Model” in 2015. In her inaugural appearance, Markovic impressed as she clinched the top position in the initial runway competition. Throughout the season, when Markovic wasn’t crowned the highest-ranked model, she consistently avoided elimination. She was at risk of being eliminated only twice across 12 episodes, including in the final episode. However, it was Brittany Beattie from Whittlesea who was ultimately declared the winner, receiving the title of “Australia’s Next Top Model” and a feature in Elle Australia.
I’m feeling incredibly proud at this moment,” she said to the judges during the final round. “This is exactly what I intended to demonstrate from the beginning – my ability to accomplish this task.

Alice Tan Ridley, an accomplished vocalist known for her powerful performances on ‘America’s Got Talent’, and mother to Academy Award-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, sadly passed away at the age of 72.
Despite losing to Beattie, Markovic’s modeling journey was far from over.
Since then, the model has worked with brands such as Armani, AllSaints, Cult Gaia, and Staud. She’s been showcased in Vogue Singapore, Vogue Korea, Vanity Fair Italia, and even appeared alongside renowned models like Bella Hadid and Alex Consani in various fashion campaigns.
Just before she passed away, Markovic aimed to launch her fitness app, as mentioned by her sister on Instagram. Jelena posted sneak peeks of Markovic working out in gym attire, lifting weights. “Your aspirations were ever so lofty,” Jelenaa commented.
In truth, your ambition was to become a Victoria’s Secret model, and now you’ll be walking alongside all the models, who will undoubtedly admire you! Let’s cherish the joy and memories from your life. For the moment, may you soar freely, relishing your adventure, and we shall reunite on the other side. We adore you, Lucy, eternally.
