Lucy Hale to star in Antarctica-set sci-fi thriller film White Mars
As a seasoned gamer and avid movie buff with a soft spot for thrillers and sci-fi, I am absolutely thrilled about Lucy Hale’s latest venture into the chilling world of “White Mars.” Having witnessed her grit and tenacity as Aria Montgomery in “Pretty Little Liars” and seen her brave the horrors of various horror movies like “Fantasy Island,” “Truth or Dare,” “Scream 4,” and the serial killer thriller series “Ragdoll,” I am confident that she will bring a compelling performance to her role as microbiologist Sammie.
Lucy Hale is ready to face the bitter cold for her forthcoming science fiction thriller movie, “White Mars,” which seems reminiscent of a contemporary version of “The Thing.
As reported by Deadline, the actress has been chosen to play the role of microbiologist Sammie. This character is tasked with working at an isolated research station located in Antarctica. However, things take a turn for the worse when a sinister force infiltrates the facility, its aim being the elimination of everyone within it, forcing Sammie to struggle for her survival.
As a dedicated fan, I find the captivating aspect of “White Mars” lies in its innovative production method. This upcoming project by Singularity, an entertainment company known for pushing boundaries, will be filmed entirely within a virtual production studio. Their unique approach to filmmaking combines augmented reality, computer-generated imagery (CGI), and advanced technology to generate immersive and lifelike settings. Notably, Netflix has already employed this cutting-edge virtual production studio for the German mystery series “1899”.
The upcoming movie is set to be helmed by Martin Owen, the same director behind “Above the Below” featuring Idris Elba. The screenplay is penned by Vicki Sargent, Roo Berry, and Matt Mitchell. Filming is expected to start later this month in Rome, implying a potential release date somewhere in the next year.
‘White Mars’ is an absolute psychological thrill ride, and I’m so excited to film this at the Cinecittà film stages in Rome. At the heart of this story is Sammie, a character I truly admire for her resilience and strength. I can’t wait to collaborate with Martin Owen, our incredible cast, and the entire team to bring this story to life.
Hale is primarily recognized for portraying Aria Montgomery throughout all seven seasons of “Pretty Little Liars,” yet she has also made appearances in numerous horror movies, such as “Fantasy Island,” “Truth or Dare,” and “Scream 4.” She has also starred in the lead role of a serial killer thriller series titled “Ragdoll.” Apart from her upcoming project “White Mars,” Hale can be seen in the comedy-thriller film “F*** Marry Kill,” which revolves around a woman who suspects she might be dating a serial killer.
