Lucy Beaumont says she sometimes worries she ‘made a mistake’ marrying Jon Richardson as she slams his stubbornness in unearthed clip – after huge divorce pay out
As someone who has followed Lucy Beaumont and Jon Richardson’s journey together for quite some time, their recent revelations about their marriage come as no surprise to me. I’ve always admired Lucy’s candor and her ability to poke fun at even the most difficult situations, which is evident in the anecdote she shared from their honeymoon.
Lucy Beaumont expressed concerns that her decision to marry Jon Richardson might have been incorrect due to his persistent stubbornness, as revealed in an old video.
The couple, who have a daughter together and got married in April 2015, revealed that they were separating earlier this year.
Currently, a previously undisclosed video has emerged displaying Lucy expressing her marital apprehensions on Jon’s program titled “Ultimate Worrier,” which invites guests to evaluate and address Jon’s numerous concerns.
Inquired about any concerns Lucy might have regarding her former spouse, she responded: ‘I do have quite a few. At times, I find myself questioning if I may have made the wrong decision.’
Lucy elaborated that Jon tends to find it difficult to acknowledge his errors or mistakes, an attribute she noted could pose challenges in a marriage.
‘One thing I think that’s really hard in a marriage is when the other person can’t admit when they’re wrong,’ she continued. ‘Can’t say sorry I’ve made a mistake.’
On the given episode, they welcomed back Jonathan Ross. He added his thoughts, stating, “A relationship cannot endure such challenges.
Jon responded, “Give me a chance to mess up before you pass judgment.” He added with a smile, implying it wasn’t fair.
To support her argument, Lucy commented, “He genuinely believes I’m the one with flaws and that you never err. Let me give you an instance, and I must warn you, it’s not a very enjoyable tale to share.
Lucy shared an account of their honeymoon adventure, during which they hired a car and toured across America. While Jon was focused on the map, he made reservations for a hotel in Santa Cruz.
When I researched Santa Cruz, I discovered that it has one of the highest homicide rates across the United States, even surpassing notorious cities like Los Angeles. Jon was surprised but insisted, “I’ve already made reservations there.” It seems like an intriguing destination, but with caution!
Instead, let me rephrase for you: “We entered a falafel restaurant and settled by the window overlooking the ocean. As time passed, I began to feel that it was getting quite late, and things seemed to be changing subtly. Then, you showed no interest in any of it.
In any case, a group arrived, and one of them was stabbed in the chest. Jon, on the other hand, showed no emotion, as if he were observing two birds squabbling, while I was taken aback by the situation.
Lucy mentioned, “I exclaimed ‘I can’t eat this,’ so Jon went ahead and ate my falafel too. I asked him, ‘Don’t you mind?’
‘And all because he didn’t want to admit that we’re in a dangerous place.’
In a video posted on Tuesday, Lucy humorously expressed doubts about her lifelong marriage to Jon, which was two years prior to their public separation announcement.
In a resurfaced episode of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown from 2022, Lucy, aged 41, openly expressed her thoughts about their marital relationship, causing Jon, who is also 41, to inquire if they were planning to split up.
In the footage from the show, host Jimmy Carr asked Lucy: ‘What made you decided to settle?’
The comedian responded with: “Isn’t there a song called ‘Just Passing Through’? It seems like this moment, this phase, or even a whole lifetime.
In the course of your lifetime, you encounter individuals with souls that are both familiar and novel, some may even seem difficult. Prior to Jon, I hadn’t tasted avocados. Our journey has been filled with joy, we’ve welcomed a child into our lives, and we’ve lived a beautiful life together.
‘Who knows what will happen in the future.’
A stunned Jon asked: ‘Are you breaking up now?’ before putting his head in his hands.
Lucy replied: ‘We have a lovely daughter so it has been worth it.’
They began their romantic relationship in the year 2013, having first crossed paths courtesy of friend Roisin Conaty. Subsequently, they collaborated on several productions, notably “Meet The Richardsons”.
In a shared declaration back in April, they expressed: “Following nine years of wedlock, it’s time for us to disclose that we’ve parted ways. With mutual understanding, we’ve decided to terminate our marriage, opting instead for individual paths.
Jon handed over £1.625 million to Lucy when they called time on their nine year marriage.
