Lucifer star’s absurd new Exploding Kittens series is trending on Netflix

As a dedicated fan and follower of Tom Ellis’s acting career, I couldn’t be more thrilled about his latest project, “Exploding Kittens,” now streaming on Netflix. The unique animated series based on the popular card game brings to life two contrasting cats inhabited by God and the Devil, with Ellis lending his charisma and wit to the role of Godcat.

Lucifer star Tom Ellis’s strange new series Exploding Kittens is currently trending on Netflix.

In the animated show, inspired by the well-known card game, there are two feuding cats – one possessing the divine spirit of God, while the other represents the evil spirit of the Devil.

As a cat lover with years of experience observing their quirks and behaviors, I find the concept of God and the Devil taking on feline forms in the eternal struggle between good and evil to be both whimsical and intriguing. Imagine the scene: the Almighty and the Master of Darkness, two powerful beings, reduced to playful house cats roaming the earth, their divine battles transformed into adorable feline squabbles. This paraphrased version of a synopsis brings a fresh perspective to the age-old story of good versus evil, making it more relatable and engaging for any cat enthusiast or someone who appreciates a unique twist on classic mythology.

Ellis plays Godcat, while Agatha All Along‘s Sasheer Zamata voices his rival Devilcat.

Suzy Nakamura from “Avenue 5,” Ally Maki of “The Big Door Prize,” Mark Proksch in “What We Do in the Shadows,” and Kenny Yates from “Hunt Club” are among the cast members.

Recently, “Exploding Kittens” made its debut on streaming services and has quickly gained a following, currently sitting at the number five spot in the Top 10 television programs.

If you don’t currently have a Netflix subscription but would like to watch their comedy series, you have three options: The first is a monthly fee of £4.99 for the standard plan with ads. The second option is the standard plan, which costs £10.99 per month. Lastly, there’s the premium plan that will set you back £17.99 each month.

In an interview with Tudum, Ellis shared his delight in portraying Godcat, expressing that their shared contempt for humans made the role entertaining for him.

Zamata remarked with a smile, “I often portray virtuous or morally upright characters in my roles. It’s an enjoyable challenge to step into the shoes of the antagonist and bring some mischief to life.”

I discovered the exciting world of Exploding Kittens in 2015, following its record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. Since then, this game has continued to grow with a few add-ons. I’ve enjoyed playing it on my smartphone through various app versions and even on Nintendo Switch. Most recently, the thrilling Russian Roulette version was introduced in 2018.
