Lucasfilm Confirms New ‘The Ninth Jedi’ Spin-off Series

At the conclusion of the three-day Star Wars Celebration gathering held in Tokyo, Lucasfilm revealed that a new extended series called “The Ninth Jedi” is coming soon.

The upcoming series, titled “The Ninth Jedi,” is a spin-off of the recently released short stories in “Star Wars: Visions” on Disney+. This new series will include nine episodes, due to air on October 29 on the streaming platform under the “Star Wars: Visions” label. During a recent event, Lucasfilm’s senior vice president of franchise content and strategy, James Waugh, revealed this news by inviting “Visions” writer-director Kenji Kamiyama onto the stage. As per Disney’s official Star Wars fan site, Waugh expressed his gratitude for the audience’s support and enthusiasm for the adventures of Kara and Juro in “The Ninth Jedi,” and further announced that fans will continue to follow Kara’s journey in a new spinoff titled “Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.

The animated series “Visions” made its debut in 2021, with one of the initial nine short films titled “The Ninth Jedi“. This short story revolves around a young girl named Lah Kara, who is the daughter of a lightsaber-smith. She finds herself pursued by sinister forces as she embarks on a perilous mission. Chinatsu Akasaki provided the voice for Lah Kara, while Tetsuo Kanao voiced Margrave Juro in this production. The second season was released in 2023, and the third season is expected to feature a short called “Child of Hope“, which will continue the story of “The Ninth Jedi“, focusing on Kara and Juno. As of now, no official release date has been announced for the upcoming longform series.
