As a devoted fan who has grown up with the kids of Hawkins, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and dread as we inch closer to the final chapter of Stranger Things. Over two years since season 4 dropped, it feels like an eternity waiting for our beloved group of friends to return to our screens. But alas, the halfway point of filming has been reached, and it seems we still have a long winter ahead before we get our hands on new episodes.

Approximately a month ago, Netflix published a video signifying the midpoint of production for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Recently, showrunner Ross Duffer shared a fresh collection of photos offering a glimpse behind the scenes during Weeks 28-30. Given that these weeks correspond to the range of Weeks 24-27 at the halfway point, it’s estimated that Stranger Things has approximately 20 weeks remaining in its filming schedule, potentially extending into mid-January of 2025.

Essentially, we’re looking at more time passing before we can enjoy fresh installments of “Stranger Things,” considering it’s been two years since season 4 premiered. Thankfully, the fifth season will be the final one, as waiting any longer might make it difficult for the cast members to convincingly portray teenage characters.

For now, let’s appreciate these collections of pictures. Caleb McLaughlin is prominently featured as Lucas Sinclair, maintaining his iconic high-top hairstyle from season 4. As we move forward into season 5, the storyline will seamlessly continue right where it left off in season 4.

In the upcoming image, we find Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Brett Gelman (Murray Bauman), and a dog stealing the spotlight. There’s also a scene featuring an eerie door marked “Forbidden Zone.” Throughout this show, it seems the government conducts experiments involving things that humanity shouldn’t meddle with. I suspect more such experiment is happening behind that ominous door.

Possibly, one of the most unusual shots features a lifelike doll dressed in military clothing, possibly symbolizing a fallen body; battling otherworldly creatures can be perilous, yet someone is required to do it. We are shown the interior of an abandoned RadioShack, a place where character Bob Newby (Sean Astin) once worked before his untimely death in season 2. Also included are shots of the WSQK radio station logo, hinting at its significance in the upcoming climax. It’s someone’s responsibility to inform the public about the unfolding events!

Between the RadioShack and the radio station, these images remind us that Stranger Things is a 1980s period piece. We’ll get one more heaping helping of the show before bows out. We don’t have a release date yet, but if it doesn’t come out in 2025, there will be riots.
