It has been a tumultuous week for Strictly Come Dancing’s Thomas Skinner.
Even though JD Vance, a friend of the US Vice-President and former Apprentice contestant, admitted to his wife, Sinead, that he’d been unfaithful shortly after their wedding, she still stood by him when he first appeared on the BBC show.
Despite learning that her husband, Skinner, had an affair with Amy-Lucy O’Rourke in the summer of 2022, Sinead reportedly plans to support him throughout the current series, according to friends.
Although he tries to appear confident and playful, the dad-of-three admitted he was quite anxious about competing on Strictly Come Dancing. He was really excited, though, to be partnered with Amy Dowden.
The 35-year-old Welsh dancer was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in May 2023. After completing chemotherapy, she rejoined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing for the last season. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw from the competition when paired with singer JB Gill after fracturing her leg due to stress.
BBC executives have put Claudia Dowden and Janette Manrara together, which sources say indicates the show wants Janette to win.
According to a friend, Skinner is extremely afraid of dancing. He was completely unsure of his abilities and worried about how he would perform.
He’s quite innocent and easily worried, so Sinead’s support has been incredibly valuable and will continue to motivate him.
Considering how badly Thomas treated her, her support is really admirable. Plus, he’s now secured representation from a top agent. This strongly suggests the BBC is fully backing him.
In a clip shown last night, Skinner explained he joined the popular show for his kids, though he joked they’d probably make fun of him.
He admitted he’d never danced before, but he was determined to try his best and fully commit to it.
He confessed to feeling somewhat nervous, but also expressed immense excitement about the opportunity, saying, ‘I’m really thrilled to be here!’
I had imagined my Saturday would be pretty simple: waking up, heading to the market, watching the West Ham game, flying here, and maybe doing some dancing.
‘I have since found out it’s a little bit more than that.’
He expressed his excitement about partnering with Ms. Dowden, calling her a legend and an inspiration.
Addressing her, he added: ‘I hope you can teach me a few moves because I’m useless at the minute.’
Dianne Buswell, dancing with Stefan Dennis from Neighbours, made history as the show’s first pregnant professional dancer. She cleverly concealed her baby bump with the fringe on her glittering dress.
Alex Kingston, known for her role as Dr. Elizabeth Corday on the TV show ER, will be dancing with Johannes Radebe. Chris Robshaw, a former captain of the England rugby team, has been partnered with Nadiya Bychkova, and Love Island’s Dani Dyer will dance with Nikita Kuzmin.
Ellie Goldstein, the first contestant with Down’s syndrome on the show, will be dancing with Vito Coppola. Drag queen La Voix is paired with Aljaz Skorjanec, and Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope will dance with Katya Jones.
