Love Island star Jonny Mitchell and his girlfriend, Simone Engelhardt, have welcomed their first child into the world.
Simone had a difficult labor that lasted four days and ultimately required an emergency C-section. On Wednesday, Jonny shared photos on Instagram documenting the experience.
From the start of labor until Jonny finally held his baby, it was clear the couple had faced a challenging path to become parents.
Jonny, 33, wrote in the caption: ‘Welcome to the world, my boy ❤️
The last week was quite a ride! We were hoping for a calm and peaceful home birth, but things didn’t quite go as planned.

After a period of stress, pain, and sleepless nights, unexpected complications arose, and we had to rush to the hospital for an emergency C-section.
Between the stress, sleepless nights, and watching someone I cared about struggle, my mind was overwhelmed with negative thoughts and worst-case scenarios.
‘So I’m beyond grateful everything worked out. What a woman @engelhardtlund is.
After four days of intense labor, including surgery to deliver our son, she’s handling everything with incredible strength and grace – she’s a true warrior.
‘Everything’s only now just starting to sink in and feel real! Time for the next chapter.’
Jonny first announced he was to become a father for the first time in July.
He became well-known after appearing on Love Island in 2017, where he spent 38 days and was in a relationship with Amber Davies. Recently, he playfully mentioned that while he wasn’t previously keen on having children, he’s now starting to consider becoming a father.
Jonny and Simone were very public with their affection at the time, sharing several loving photos together. One photo showed Jonny tenderly holding Simone’s baby bump, and he excitedly praised her as a future ‘amazing’ mother.
He announced he’s going to be a dad, playfully quoting a popular line from Bella Ramsey in the TV show The Last of Us – a line that’s become a well-known internet meme. He wrote, ‘She’s getting too big to keep this a secret much longer… I’m gonna be a dad!’
I usually don’t share personal things, but I wanted to make an exception this time. For those who know me, I’ve never really been someone who dreamed of having children.

He continued, explaining that the feeling truly hits you when you meet someone you know would be a wonderful mother – and he believes @engelhardtlund will be exactly that. He admitted he’s now fully on board with the idea.
The last ten years have flown by with so many surprises, it’s amazing how much things have changed – it feels like a completely different world from just five years ago.
We’re excited to announce we’re expecting a baby! Baby Mitchell is due later this year, and I’m looking forward to learning how to be a great dad.
People quickly sent their congratulations to Adam Collard, the newest dad and star of Love Island, with many simply writing ‘Congrats!’ to him.
Rykard Jenkins offered his congratulations and best wishes to the couple, while James Tindale from Geordie Shore expressed his excitement and congratulations as well.
Jonny shared that he’s left his reality TV days behind to dedicate himself to a new passion: rescuing stray dogs in Bali with his girlfriend, Simone.
He relocated to Indonesia in 2020, and says the move has significantly changed him, causing his priorities to quickly shift.
Jonny recently shared on social media that he’s gone through significant changes in the past six months, posting a photo with the dogs he’s been looking after.
I’ve changed dramatically – my entire perspective on life, how I measure success and happiness, and even my priorities have shifted quickly and completely.
One of the most surprising changes I’ve noticed in myself is a strong feeling of responsibility to help the dogs here on this small island.
I feel strongly that my purpose in life is to help dogs in need and make a positive impact on their lives.
I adore living in Bali and have really fallen for the island, but that doesn’t mean I approve of how animals are sometimes treated here. Their animal welfare practices definitely need improvement.
He then described the difficult lives of the stray dogs on the island, explaining that while many survive on the streets, a lot of puppies have trouble finding enough to eat.
He also mentioned that elderly or frail dogs often suffer from starvation or severe illness without receiving any assistance.
Jonny added that while these issues aren’t as significant as many global problems, he believes he can still make a difference by addressing them in his own way.
