Love Island’s Joey Essex and Jessy Potts pose for loved-up snap as they prove they are committed to ‘exclusive era’ after being booted off show
As a seasoned viewer of Love Island, I must say I’ve seen it all – from unrequited love triangles to dramatic exits. But this year, something truly intriguing caught my attention: the mysterious entry of Joey Essex. The man is a TOWIE veteran, yet he managed to keep his appearance under wraps until the very last minute!
On Tuesday, I took to social media to share a heartwarming photo with my lovely partner, Jessy Potts. The image underscores our dedication to this special phase in our relationship that we’ve labeled as our ‘exclusive era‘, where we cherish and grow together.
In an unexpected twist, I found myself unexpectedly leaving the show a day before its finale, as my fellow cast members reunited to resolve some lingering issues on the following Sunday.
Just days earlier, Joey and Jessy became exclusive during a romantic date night in the villa.
In their latest photo, the duo showed affection by snuggling up together. The ex-TOWIE personality, aged 34, looked deeply into the 25-year-old’s eyes while they intertwined fingers, all set against a picturesque pool scene in Mallorca.
Making their romance Instagram official, they shared a joint post and wrote: ‘exclusive era’
It has been unveiled that Joey actually did receive special treatment during his stay at Love Island, despite his earlier claims of not receiving any preferential treatment due to his celebrity status.
TopMob recognizes that Joey, initially presented as a standout contestant during the first week of the program, had been informed he might reach the finale before joining the show. However, Joey and his partner Jessy Potts were upset when they were eliminated on Sunday’s episode following the former Islanders voting them the least harmonious pairing in the competition.
According to insiders, it is reported that the ex-TOWIE star was allotted around two to three hours daily outside the villa, where he interacted with the production team without camera presence.
It is being reported that Joey was provided with bouquets of flowers by the production crew, which he then passed on to Mimii Ngulube – the eventual winner – as a gesture, following some negative feedback about his actions towards her and her partner, Josh Oyinsan.
Last week, we saw Joey presenting Mimii with a bouquet of flowers as a gesture of apology. This was after the two had a disagreement during a competition.
In a recent statement, ITV clarified that Joey was not given special treatment in any way throughout the entire process before, during, or after appearing on the show. They firmly deny any claims suggesting otherwise, as every islander is treated equally.
As you step into the villa, it was earlier clarified by ITV producers that Joey is following the same rules as all other Love Island participants, receiving no special privileges or preferential treatment.
He didn’t receive any payment, including an appearance fee, for joining the show; he got nothing at all.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m delighted to share an intriguing update: This very week, it has been announced that Joey, who boasts an impressive net worth of £8 million, is poised to rake in a staggering £250,000 from a club tour, following his departure from Love Island.
After it emerged that his salary for the show didn’t exceed what the other contestants were earning, approximately £375 per week, it followed.
During the final episode on Monday night fans claimed they saw him looking ‘furious’ and ‘bitter’.
During the program, viewers found themselves drawn to his seemingly displeased facial expressions that were caught on camera when it focused on him.
It was thought that he might not have been content because he didn’t reach the finale alongside Jessy, aged 25, as he departed the villa a day before the event.
Whilst on the show Joey has been called ‘arrogant’, ‘problematic’ and ’embarrassing’.
In one instance, his conduct toward a previous contestant named Samantha Kenny was so controversial that it prompted 120 complaints to the broadcasting regulatory body, Ofcom.
In an effort to maintain secrecy around his entrance, producers made sure to take all necessary measures when the first celebrity, Mr. Essex, joined the reality show villa.
Instead of flying with other celebrities to Mallorca, the reality star had to take a boat ride to maintain privacy and avoid public attention during his travel.
For the first time, Love Island producers have welcomed a well-known celebrity into their cast. Recognizable to viewers as one of TOWIE’s early stars, Mr Essex has also appeared on Dancing On Ice, Celebs Go Dating, and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
ITV have been contacted for comment.
Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan won Love Island series 11.
Maya Jama, the host, declared that due to the highest number of public votes, the winning couple is entitled to a £50,000 cash reward.
Mimii, age 24, and Josh, age 29, became the first black pair to claim victory on Love Island since its revival in 2015, making history on the popular reality TV show.
In the finals, the pair found themselves competing alongside Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies, Matilda Draper and Sean Stone, as well as Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya.
In the reality show contest, it was Jessica and Ayo who came in fourth, while Matilda and Sean earned third place.
In the end, it was Mimii and Josh who were chosen as winners by viewers, with Nicole and Ciaran finishing as the second-place contenders in the competition.
