Love Island’s Indiyah Polack Reveals ADHD Diagnosis and Career Fears

During a chat with Hot Girl Talks on Capital XTRA last Friday, Love Island contestant Indiyah Polack disclosed that she was recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The television host, aged 26, admitted that she hesitated to discuss her medical condition due to worries it might affect her professional life.

She admitted to Shayna Marie and Zeze Millz that, although it’s been challenging, the diagnosis has helped clarify certain parts of her life.

Indiyah said: ‘It’s been tough. There’s a lot of things that have happened with me like mentally.

‘As a black woman, I had been shy to disclose, so recently I have been diagnosed with ADHD.

‘And that was something I was very up in the air about talking about.

To ensure it wouldn’t influence my professional life, impact my job opportunities, or play any role in general, I decided against it.

‘Because I feel like being a black woman, we have a lot of things already against us.

‘So, to go and chuck in another thing, it is just something I’d rather not tell them about.’

Indiyah added that she is ‘not in a position where I’m like it’s okay, it doesn’t define me’ yet.

She continued, “It became much clearer to me why specific events occurred in my life.

In the course of my adult experiences, particularly within this field, I’ve encountered events that resonated with me, and it felt as if I were back in secondary school.

I believe it’s more about empathy, but I want to make sure everything is alright with you, mentally speaking, and that you’re feeling good.

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a type of developmental condition that’s often marked by ongoing issues with focus, excessive activity, and acting on impulses.

Indiyah rose to fame on Love Island in 2022 placing third alongside her boyfriend Dami Hope.

Previously, she was a waitress at a hotel; however, following her rise to television stardom, she’s now established a stylish profession with frequent spots on the Aftersun panel.

Since her departure from the villa, Indiyah’s career has flourished remarkably, securing numerous partnerships with fashion brands and hosting several high-profile events.

One such event is the MOBO Awards, which she co-hosted with Eddie Kadi at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on February 18.

Every weekday morning, I tune into Capital XTRA Breakfast show, hosted by the dynamic duo, Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie, between 6:30 and 10:00 AM. You can catch their lively broadcast not only across the United Kingdom but also on Global Player!
