Love Island’s first winner Jessica Hayes says the fall out from instant fame was so bad she is now celibate and ‘doesn’t miss men or sex’ following shock split from fiancé

Following an unexpected breakup with my then-fiancé, I made a decision that some might find surprising: I chose to abstain from romantic relationships for the foreseeable future. It’s all about self-discovery and healing in this phase of my life.

The initial victor of the ITV2 program, aged 32 at present but only 22 when winning the £50,000 prize with ex-partner Max Morley, has declared that she intends to remain celibate after her rise to fame and tumultuous romantic past.

The twice-featured celestial body informed the Sun that her sudden rise to prominence after gracing ITV’s main program has dampened her enthusiasm towards romantic interests with men.

She shared with the media outlet: “I’m not seeking a romantic relationship; instead, I yearn for tranquility, and I find contentment in abstinence.

‘I don’t miss sex or hugs or kisses. I don’t miss men at all, to be honest.’

She shared that she was completely unaware of how drastically her life would transform following Love Island, emphasizing that it was the initial season, so she didn’t know what she was getting herself into.

Jessica mentioned that it was three years following her stint on the show when she admitted to feeling particularly low. She recalled wondering, “Now what?”

Or, in another way: After appearing on the show three years prior, Jessica confessed to experiencing a deep sense of confusion and asking herself, “What’s next?

You spend a lot of time socializing and partying, which can sometimes lead to overindulgence. This isn’t healthy for you in the long run. Being a celebrity after a show doesn’t mean it will last forever – it’s just about managing the fame effectively.

The social media personality expressed gratitude for the income possibilities the program offered throughout the last ten years, but since welcoming children into her life, her priorities have shifted away from materialistic concerns.

Jessica revealed in February that she had split from her fiancé Zeb.

In 2021, the actress, who has a daughter named Zendaya and a son from a past relationship called Presley, began dating Zeb. They were introduced by mutual acquaintances, and by the following year, they were already engaged.

However, a reel posted on Instagram in February disclosed that she had decided to begin anew, thus confirming their separation.

In the clip, Jess shared that she was entrusting the future to the universe as she watched her daughter Zendaya play around some shifting cardboard boxes, hinting at the upcoming phase of her life.

In the video, Jess offered a glimpse into her fresh abode, posing by the entrance and showing a brief peek of her child playing in the living area. Afterward, she savored a beverage in her pristine kitchen.

The video showed Jessica spending some quality time with her kids and looked happy. 

In a whirlwind of excitement, I couldn’t help but express my admiration in the comment section. After all, it’s Jessica who never fails to inspire me. So, here’s what I penned down: ‘I’m so incredibly proud of you, dear one! My love for you knows no bounds.’

In April 2023, Jessica and her fiance Zeb experienced a heartbreaking loss as they mourned the death of their first child together, which occurred approximately three years following Jessica’s miscarriage of son Teddy at 19 weeks during her relationship with ex-partner Dan.

The news follows her disclosure that she experienced postnatal anxiety following the heart-wrenching losses of two miscarriages.

Jessica openly discussed how the sorrow from her previous miscarriage often left her anxious throughout her pregnancy with Zendaya.

When asked if her previous experiences (two miscarriages) caused her to be anxious during this pregnancy, she responded to New Magazine saying: “Absolutely, I was always on edge and concerned something might go wrong.

Until the very last moment, I found myself filled with concern that something might go wrong for me or her. My mind was simply preoccupied, constantly ruminating and feeling uneasy.

As a lifestyle advisor, I can relate. Even though I’ve welcomed a new addition to my family, I can’t help but experience the lingering concerns of postpartum anxiety. Whenever I step out with her in public, the sight of other people makes me worry about her wellbeing.

Additionally, she mentioned that she aims to flood her mind with uplifting ideas and maintain a calm demeanor whenever she encounters feelings of worry.

Love Island is set to return on June 9 over on ITV2 and ITVX.
