Love Island USA star Cierra Ortega makes a shock exit from the villa following offscreen racism scandal
Love Island USA‘s Cierra Ortega was eliminated from season seven due to offensive comments she made on her previous social media accounts.
A few weeks following a fellow cast member’s dismissal due to past racial slurs, her termination ensued as fans discovered another instance of off-screen racially charged incidents.
In the broadcast on Sunday, narrated by Iain Stirling on Peacock, it was revealed that Ortega departed the villa because of a private matter and thus made Nic Vansteenberghe officially single.
In the subsequent sequence, he could be seen conversing with Ace Green, expressing his uncertainty about his upcoming actions – a conversation that transpired only six days prior to the end of the season.
During her filming stint in Fiji, she was disconnected from social media platforms. However, it was discovered by “Love Island” enthusiasts that an offensive post was hidden on her Instagram account.
A few short weeks have passed since I bid farewell to Yulissa Escobar, who joined us as an Original Islander during season seven.
By the start of the second episode, she was no longer there. Iain Stirling mentioned in his opening remarks that she had chosen to exit the villa.
In a turn of events, a 27-year-old realtor from Miami was terminated on the third day due to the emergence of videos showing her using the racially charged N-word during a podcast discussion.
Following Escobar’s quick exit, there was a growing expectation that a similar fate would befall Ortega, a vibrant 25-year-old content creator hailing from Phoenix, who joined the group on day two.
Previously hidden Instagram posts show her making racist remarks against Chinese individuals on two different occasions, both occurring several years ago.
One January 2015 post displayed a picture of her atop a mountain, employing a derogatory term to express her contagious grin.
Additionally, a post on Instagram from February 2023 surfaced, depicting her undergoing Botox injections, once more employing a derogatory term regarding her grin. This has sparked outrage among her followers, who are demanding swift action against her.

It’s uncertain whether the show’s creators will dismiss her in a similar manner to how Escobar was, but Ortega has already experienced a slight decrease in her Instagram following.
She has lost over 200K followers in the past 48 hours after the posts first re-surfaced.
During Love Island Season 7, Ortega was on track to surpass 1 million followers at some point. However, as of now, she has 709,000 followers instead.
Despite being in a relationship with Nic Vansteenberghe during filming in Fiji, there are numerous calls for her dismissal on various social platforms.
Recently, a Change.org petition demanding her dismissal was initiated, shortly after the controversial Instagram posts emerged, and it now boasts 6,670 valid signatures.
A supporter, @deannacortes, posted the petition link on X, urging, “Bring Cierra Ortega back,” using the hashtags #racist, #LoveIslandUSA, and #stopasianhate.
As a connoisseur of modern lifestyles, I’d like to share an opinion I recently encountered from @ShaneAnie1990. They asserted that if Cierra Ortega has used a racially insensitive word, we should cancel her completely as this behavior will likely repeat itself in the future.
Cass Rabbit (@cassrabbit) addressed both @LoveIslandUSA and @Peacock in a tweet, expressing her concern that Cierra Ortega continues to use a derogatory term for Asians. This is the third instance she’s noticed this behavior from Cierra. She compares this to when Yulissa was rightfully removed for using a racial slur, and wonders if similar actions will be taken against Ciera, or if discrimination against Asians doesn’t hold significance for them.
A different user named @h0td1lfj0hnny posed a question: “Why hasn’t Cierra not been removed from the Villa…, she seems to be using racial slurs.

The user commented, “You guys quickly removed Yulissa, but not Cierra? Why is that? She’s being racist and using offensive slurs. #loveislandusa”
In this version, the language has been made more neutral and easy to understand while maintaining the original meaning of the post. The use of profanity has been replaced with a clear statement about Cierra’s behavior.
User @SSTARZZNE commented, ‘Hopefully cierra will finish last in the voting following her actions being labeled as racially insensitive #LoveIslandUSA.’
In simpler terms, “@mainopvirgo” stated that “Yulissa used a racial slur (the offensive term often referred to as ‘the n-word’) and was appropriately removed from the show due to justified anger. This is similar to Cierra using another racial slur; she can’t defend her actions.
Ortega has not yet addressed the controversy personally via her verified Instagram page.
