Love Island’s Jay Younger is engaged! He proposed to his girlfriend during a romantic trip to Aspen.
I’m so excited to share some wonderful news! Our family is growing – my fiancée and I are engaged! I just posted a picture of her stunning ring on Instagram, and we’re both over the moon. It feels amazing to be able to share this happy moment with all of you.
During their snowy Colorado break, Jay and his wife-to-be posed for a string of loved-up snaps.
He announced his engagement with a playful caption: ‘It seems a Latina woman can say yes to a Scottish man!’
Jay received congratulations from many of his former Love Island castmates. Luca Bish commented ‘Congratulations brother,’ and Danice Taylor simply wrote ‘Congratulations!’
Sheli McCoy, known as Sabre on the BBC hit Gladiators, wrote: ‘Omggggggg! Congrats pal!’
ITV’s Andi Peters said: ‘It’s the Irn-Bru she’s after! Congratulations.’
Jay publicly revealed his girlfriend on Instagram in December 2024. Some viewers pointed out that she looks similar to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, whom he dated briefly on the reality show Love Island in 2022.
The reality TV personality first appeared on the show as a surprise contestant in season eight, and immediately caused excitement – and some conflict – by going on dates with three of the female contestants.
A couple of days later, Ekin-Su decided to pair up with him, but their connection didn’t last long. He then coupled with Paige Thorne.
Jay went on to couple up with Danica Taylor, before moving on to Chyna Mills during Casa Amor.
After 35 days on the show, Jay and Chyna were eliminated following a vote by the public. Jay later said that the show’s producers heavily influenced his romantic pairings, which negatively impacted his experience.
After leaving the show, Jay went back to his regular job as an investment analyst.
Jay recently revealed details about being a late arrival on the show, explaining how much information contestants receive about each other beforehand.
Okay, so he told Ice36 that we, as fans, are supposed to watch the show just like everyone else, to get a little peek into what life is really like in the villa. But honestly? They’re only letting us see a limited amount – it’s so frustrating! I need to know everything that’s going on in there!
Jay said that after going out, he had to quarantine for fourteen days. During that time, they were permitted to watch one episode of the show further behind what viewers were seeing at home.
Okay, so I was super late getting access, but they let me binge-watch everything before I went on the show! I basically memorized all the Islanders – I knew their names, what they looked like, their whole vibe. It was amazing! I felt like I already had a read on everyone and knew what to expect going in there, which was a huge relief.
Jay, who went through the Casa Amor experience himself, explained that it’s not as dramatic as it seems on TV. He said they only film for a few hours each day.
When not filming, the contestants are kept apart to make sure any potential romantic connections or drama aren’t missed. They also aren’t allowed to talk about what’s happening in the villa until the cameras start rolling again.
Jay said the filming schedule will alternate: they’ll film the girls during the day and the boys at night, while the other villa gets a break.
As a lifestyle expert who’s been behind the scenes, let me tell you, they really keep the guys and girls separate when the cameras aren’t rolling. When I was in the original villa with the girls from Casa Amor, we were totally isolated – no talking allowed between us and the boys. And the boys? They weren’t allowed to discuss what was happening back at the main villa, or anything about their connections with anyone. It’s all about keeping things natural and seeing what happens organically.
Jay revealed that the show’s producers see Casa Amor as the most exciting part of the season, because that’s where most of the dramatic moments happen when contestants explore connections with new people.
The main goal is to create compelling television, so producers often encourage contestants who appear happily coupled to consider other possibilities. They might subtly suggest getting to know someone else, even if the contestant wouldn’t normally be interested, all in the hopes of creating drama and storylines.
Okay, so he finally admitted it! He said at first, he just went along with everything, you know? He thinks if he’d been stronger and thought for himself a bit more, things could have turned out differently. But he says he did what he was told, and that was that. It’s like, he’s not blaming anyone directly, but it’s totally clear he feels like he was led down a certain path, and he just… went with it. It’s heartbreaking, honestly, because you can just feel the regret!
I stuck with the plan and don’t regret my decisions, although with hindsight, most people would probably have done things a little differently.
