Love Island Star Heartbroken Over Best Friend’s Tragic Death
A popular contestant from Love Island is devastated after announcing the passing of her dearest friend on Thursday, leaving her utterly shattered.
Jessica Spencer, aged 25, who featured in season 11 of the ITV reality program, conveyed the sorrowful update to her Instagram audience while expressing heartfelt homage to her friend Estera.
In her heartfelt eulogy, it was shared that Estera lost her life after bravely battling cancer for five years.
Next to a black-and-white clip of them embracing, Jess penned: ‘To our lovely friend Estera…'”.
As a devoted admirer, I find myself overwhelmed with grief, my heart shattered into pieces that seem impossible to mend. If fortune had smiled upon you to know Est, consider yourself truly blessed. She possessed an indomitable spirit and a steadfast determination, traits that made her extraordinary in the best possible ways.
For five long years, she battled cancer, a struggle so hidden that one might not suspect it. Her courage knew no bounds, as she continued to show up, even on her most challenging days, never allowing her illness to impede her zest for living a fulfilling life.

‘You don’t truly understand the impact of cancer until it strikes, until it robs you of a loved one whom you believed would grow old with, share life events, and stand by your side through all its ups and downs – someone who has been an integral part of your life since your teenage years, my longtime best friend. The pain of such a loss is indescribable.’
Allow me to express my heartfelt sentiment: I am immensely proud of her, given all the hardships she has faced in the past five years, struggles no one should ever have to endure. She richly deserved a life brimming with prosperity, and it grieves me deeply beyond words that her journey concluded here.
I’ve consistently expressed that I couldn’t navigate life without her, and this sentiment rings true. She possesses an exquisite spirit, and it has been a privilege to have her touch my life.
I’m incredibly fortunate to have shared such an extraordinary friendship, one that feels almost indestructible. It has left me with a sense of longing in my heart, and I know my life will forever be transformed by this unique connection.
‘You’ve always been my constant companion, a mix of the worst and best influences at the same time. I could fill countless books with our shared memories, but it’s never enough. I’d give anything for just a little more time together and one final warm embrace.’
Jess ended her touching post by writing: “Experiencing Poland surrounded by your entire family and dear friends has been incredibly meaningful. I could feel your presence every moment…
Oh, dearest Est, it’s been far too long since we last shared laughter and danced as one. You are deeply missed, cherished, and admired beyond words. A celestial angel in our real lives, I yearn for the day when we can reunite and create more beautiful moments together. Forever etched in my heart, forever on my mind, and forever connected.
Later on, she shared another video featuring her friend and penned down: “Always bound by an unbreakable bond. The grim reaper has claimed too much. It’s taken away our chats, giggles, journeys, quiet moments, dreams, precious instances, and minutes together.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentiment like this: “Though you might not physically be with us anymore, you remain deeply ingrained in our hearts and minds – the special places where we continue to seek and remember you.
Jess has been inundated with condolences from her friends, as well as her fellow Love Island stars.
Grace Jackson expressed: “Jess, I’m sending you tons of love because I’m really sorry about what happened.” And Jess Harding replied: “Oh, I’m so sorry too! Lots of love coming your way.
Jessy Potts wrote: ‘I’m sending you my affection’, and Whitney Adebayo replied: ‘I’m sorry for your loss, Jess ❤️❤️. Sending you my love.’
Faye Winter wrote: ‘Sending you all the love in world, a friendship like this will last a lifetime.
‘You’ll feel a bond where whenever something joyful or challenging occurs, you’ll yearn for them to be present. In those moments, you’ll instinctively recall them, knowing their presence is as if they stand by your side.’
While staying at Love Island, Jess developed feelings for Ayo Odukoya and the two were together up until October 2024.
Currently, she’s dating Braydon Hackett, who is both a designer and creative director, and is the sibling of TOWIE personality Roman Hackett.
