Tanya and Shaq’s split, just days after convincing us they were still going strong, has sent shockwaves through the Love Island community!

In simpler terms, the finalists from Love Island season nine, Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad, have broken up after more than a year of being together.
Initiated whispers of separation first arose in July, as they stopped following one another and erased all the pictures they had taken together from their social media accounts.
Nevertheless, Shaq quashed these speculations in August by posting a picture on his social media that showed him and Tanya looking very affectionate at Claudia Fogarty’s birthday celebration.
On Saturday evening, both Shaq and Tanya posted matching messages on their Instagram Stories, confirming that they had ended their relationship.

I’ve been through many ups and downs in my life, but the love and support of those around me have always shone like a beacon in the darkest times. In the final season of Love Island’s winter edition, held in 2023, Tanya and Shaq ended up finishing fourth place. Interestingly, that was also the year when Love Island was broadcast for the very first time twice in a single year.
Winning the series were Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, both 26, who are now engaged.
In second place were Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall who split in July 2023.
In third position ended up Samie Elishi and Tom Clare; it was later that Tom Clare found romance with Molly Smith on Love Island: All Stars in January.
Tanya and Shaq’s split comes after fans were left convinced that they were engaged in February.
Over a luxurious vacation, Shaq marked Tanya’s birthday by organizing a grand spectacle, which included a romantic dinner lit by candles on the beach as the sun was setting.
Fans swiftly speculated that the show was a proposal, yet keen-eyed viewers noted Shaq’s efforts and he himself clarified through his caption: “This is simply for her birthday, just wait till I actually propose.”

In a video that Shaquille O’Neal shared on Instagram, it appears that Tanya is wearing a white, backless minidress. At some point, her boyfriend covers her eyes and then reveals a surprise to her.
The camera panned to the birthday set up – which included a path and circle made out of flowers in the sand, with the dinner table in the middle.
Later on, the duo was spotted strolling along the pathway, settling into their dining spots, followed by Shaq tenderly kissing Tanya’s hand and raising a toast with a wineglass.
Afterward, Tanya and Shaq indulged in a lavish four-course meal featuring succulent lobster, followed by the arrival of a birthday cake bedecked with glittering sparklers, courtesy of attentive waitstaff.
Although fans believed the show suggested Shaq might propose, he jokingly hinted that any engagement from him would be on a grander scale.
