Love Island: All Stars winner Ciaran Davies reveals ’90 per cent’ of contestants were struck down with stomach problems during filming in South Africa

The third season of Love Island: All Stars saw both love and drama unfold in a sunny South African villa.

Ciaran Davies, the winner of the show, says that almost everyone – around 90 percent – in the villa got sick with stomach problems while they were filming in South Africa.

Just after winning the £50,000 prize with Samie Elishi, the Welsh contestant shared that many of the villa residents were experiencing stomach problems and dealing with digestive issues behind the scenes.

‘About 90 per cent of the islanders on the All Stars had stomach problems,’ he told the Daily Mail.

Okay, so listen, our guy was saying things weren’t great over in South Africa. He wasn’t sure what it was – maybe the food, maybe the water, just being so far from home, honestly? But basically, a ton of people were feeling really sick to their stomachs. It was awful! I’ve been following everything so closely, and even hearing about it made my stomach turn. I just hope everyone’s okay now, seriously.

‘I know that from previous years in South Africa, like that was the case in their series as well.’

Fans will likely be concerned to learn about a recent illness affecting the cast, as last year’s winner, Molly Smith, experienced a similar, severe food poisoning incident that kept many of her fellow contestants sick in bed and struggling to use the limited bathroom facilities.

Ciaran, a former Love Island finalist from the 2024 season with Nicole Samuel, said the food this year was actually some of the best the show has ever offered.

He raved about the food, saying it was far better than anything he’d eaten in Mallorca – he remembered that trip vividly.

‘The favourite was the chicken pot pie we had, it tasted unbelievable, it was so good.

We had a delicious meal with chicken and rice, some flavorful curries, and jacket potatoes. Everything tasted fantastic!

But if the menu impressed, the weather did not.

Although the South African villa looked perfect, Ciaran, 23, said it was actually quite cold, with chilly nights and strong winds. Viewers might have even spotted the girls shivering during evening challenges, hinting at the unexpectedly cold weather.

He described the weather as freezing and extremely windy, recalling several nights of intense cold.

I always loved seeing the girls when they came out – they’d put on their prettiest dresses, but honestly, they wouldn’t stay out long! They’d be back inside within five minutes, and the first thing they’d do was raid all the boys’ jackets in our cupboards. It was so funny!

Oh my gosh, you guys, Ciaran and Samie won! I seriously can’t believe it! After everything – all the drama, the fights, the new people coming in constantly, and those crazy recouplings – they actually took home the crown on ‘All Stars’! It was such a rollercoaster of a season, but I was rooting for them the whole time, and I’m SO happy they finally got their happy ending!

Despite having one of the most solid relationships on the show, Ciaran shared that they and their partner are taking it easy and not rushing things now that they’re off camera.

He explained they weren’t officially dating yet. They’re focusing on getting to know each other and are happy taking things slowly, seeing only each other as they move forward.

Okay, so after I finish this call, I’m off to London! I’m spending the whole week – Monday through Friday – with Samie. We’re even planning a lovely date night at a cozy Italian restaurant. It’s going to be a fun little getaway!

Samie and I are planning a weekend together in South Wales. She’ll be coming back with me, and we’ve got lots of fun activities lined up that we both want to experience.

When asked about his plans for the prize money, Cairan said they’re hoping to take a vacation to Nashville. He also expressed a desire to meet the American couples – Millie, Whitney Adebayo, and Helena Ford – and enjoy some time together.
