Love Is Blind UK fans stunned as they unearth ‘fame-hungry’ Nicole’s TV past – and accuse Netflix of ‘hiring her to push a plot’
As a seasoned viewer of reality dating shows, I must admit that I was quite excited when I heard about the British version of “Love is Blind.” Having watched several seasons of its American counterpart, I was eager to see how our British friends would navigate this unique experiment. However, after binge-watching the first four episodes, I find myself rather disappointed and longing for my cringe-free reality TV days.
It turns out that Nicole Stevens, who is making a name for herself as a prominent figure in the popular UK version of Netflix’s Love Is Blind, has actually dabbled in reality television before.
In the first four installments of the reality TV series that premiered on Wednesday, contestants are seen dating potential partners without initially seeing each other in person. This continues until they get engaged.
Nicole Singleton, aged 29, stepped into the dating pods this week in search of romance, but observant viewers quickly noticed that this wasn’t her television debut; she had previously made an appearance on a well-known TV program.
Following the airing of the program, many viewers flocked to the UK Reddit community dedicated to Love Is Blind to chat about her familiar face. Several individuals recognized her as a former contestant on Come Dine With Me.
While watching the program, a spectator remarked, “She seemed recognizable to me! In fact, there have been a couple of others who also gave me that feeling.”
Another echoed: ‘I think she’s been on something else too because I’ve definitely seen her before.’
As another chipped in, they shared, ‘You know what struck me the whole time I watched her on screen? It felt like I’d seen her somewhere before.’
Some viewers suggested that Nicole is motivated by fame and alleged that Netflix hired her to advance the storyline. One viewer even said, “I thought she was naive for even considering Sam, but then I realized they both have a shared ambition for fame.”
A different person stated: “Come Dine With Me represents the peak of daytime television, and I won’t tolerate any opposing views, thank you. However, it seems like our Nicole might be seeking attention on TV because no one participates in CDWM for financial reasons or, goodness forbid, to show off their cooking abilities.”
However others defended Nicole, with one pointing out: ‘I don’t think she was looking for fame. I don’t think people on cooking shows are the same as people on dating shows.’
In August 2021, the initial airings of Nicole’s stint on Come Dine With Me took place, with her going head-to-head against competitors Adam, Izzy, Mark, and Chris.
In the end, I found myself placing fourth in the contest, as my hosting abilities and culinary presentation didn’t seem to captivate the judges as expected.
“In the spirit of staying positive, despite not being the winner, I gave it my all and that’s what truly matters. After all, I’m certainly not in Adam’s position.”
In the fourth installment of Love Is Blind, things took an exciting turn when Nicole, one of the key figures in the series, agreed to marry Sam, creating a high-tension climax.
Nevertheless, they decided to end their relationship following a personal encounter, and did not travel with their fellow actors to Greece instead.
Instead, Nicole suggested that she was interested in developing a relationship with Benaiah, whom she had been conversing with in the pods.
In the United States, this popular show spans over six successful seasons, featuring thirty beautiful individuals who aspire to find their perfect match and tie the knot at a grand wedding ceremony.
The reality show is hosted by husband and wife duo Emma and Matt Willis .
Luckily, the television personality, aged 48, and the singer, 41 years old, appear to be an ideal choice for hosting the dating program, as she recently disclosed that she continues to be deeply in love with her spouse.
So far, only the initial four episodes from the latest series are available, with the remaining ones set to be released on August 14th, 21st, and 25th.
However, the show has received some backlash from viewers already calling it ‘boring and cringey.’
Many viewers who have watched the first four episodes and are now deep into binge-watching, expressed their disappointment on X by criticizing the show, saying: “Fellas, it’s disappointing when I’m already squirming at #LoveisBlindUK.”; “My discomfort and embarrassment levels are sky-high as I start watching #LoveIsBlindUK.”
“#LoveIsBlindUK is making me cringe excessively compared to its American counterpart. I can handle the US version, but this one is a bore.”
