Louise Thompson Gushes Over Fiance Ryan Libbey After Marathon Challenge
Louise Thompson recently posted an open and honest update about her partner, Ryan Libbey, following his completion of the marathon test.
I couldn’t contain my excitement as I embarked on an incredible adventure to Morocco, where I was about to conquer the Marathon Des Sables – an unyielding nine-day race that began last Sunday.
35-year-old Louise Thompson, a star on “Made In Chelsea,” posted photos featuring herself, Ryan Libbey (also 34), and their three-year-old son Leo, at the airport while Ryan was coming back from a demanding undertaking.
Louise expressed admiration by saying, “I really wish I had your level of coolness,” as she found it hard to fathom how Ryan endured ‘so much extreme discomfort.’
In the series of photos, there were several capturing Ryan hiking across the desert, and some featuring Louise and Leo crafting presents ahead of his arrival, as well as a planned welcome-back meal at Five Guys.
Louise expressed her feelings as follows: “I’ve been really concerned about this man. Despite being deeply in love with him, I’m incredibly upset with him because he’s willingly subjecting himself to such an unnecessary amount of pain… and it’s all his decision.

Concerned, I found it surprising when he expressed his intense emotions since he’s usually not emotional. His concern about completing day three (often referred to as stage 3), a grueling 85-kilometer desert run, further alarmed me. As I was following his progress, my worry escalated when the tracker froze at the halfway point. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do in that situation.
The entire situation strikes me as quite absurd. I considered myself active and robust, but I unexpectedly fainted following a 10k run around Battersea Park a few years back. The repetitiveness of running… and the thought of not being able to reach places swiftly enough, leaves me feeling uncomfortable.
Considering a scenario where you’re jogging amidst pouring rain and fierce sandstorms, without any rest and burdened by all your equipment, seems almost impossible, truth be told. Add to that the potential for painful foot sores (blisters), and the limited supply of food and water, it’s a challenging ordeal indeed.
She added: ‘I wish I was as cool as you. I wish I could just pull on my big girl pants and do this.
Only a small number of individuals would likely attempt such a daunting task during their lifetimes. Many other challenges, certainly, are within reach for most.
‘I think it really stirs up some amusing thoughts in your mind. The most challenging foot race on the planet. I’m glad I can be your supporter through it all. Next time, could you arrange a dune buggy for me? I have more to share, but I’m just happy to see you back and safe at home.’
I can hardly contain my excitement, I’ve been compiling a treasured keepsake album, filled with memories of our shared moments,” I gushed. “The journal is an exquisite leather-bound one, straight from Aspinal. It’s brimming with photos and mementos, even the aroma of Krispy Kreme and the taste of Five Guys on tap are captured in its pages!
PS: Ryan recently shared with me, “Nobody will ever understand just how tough it gets.” I can relate to that sentiment, as I often find myself in similar situations where the challenges seem hidden from others.

Following Ryan’s confession about finding it challenging to be a contemporary father, given that he makes less money than Louise, is when the conversation ensued.
Ryan also revealed his fears over one day becoming a stay-at-home-father as work dries up.
On their recent podcast episode titled “He Said, She Said,” the ex-TV personality and fitness instructor voiced his worries.
He shared that he’s currently stuck in the details and isn’t feeling especially appreciative of himself or his circumstances. There are times when he feels like things aren’t going as planned, they’re not advancing or improving the way he desires them to.
‘It’s been a very quiet start to 2025 on the work front for Ryan – and it’s panicked me.’
Ryan, dwelling in London together with Louise and their child Leo, expressed concerns about deciding on suitable career paths as one of the issues he’s facing.
He currently describes himself as a digital marketer and podcaster who ‘works with brands’.

To Louise, he said: “I’m not uncomfortable with your role as the primary earner – I actually find it admirable and will stand by you in this – but if I can embrace this situation more casually, given the contemporary times we live in and my role as a modern father, that seems to be the category I fit into.
Over the last few weeks, there have been days when I feel so overwhelmed that I contemplate stepping back from my responsibilities and becoming a full-time parent instead. I imagine myself doing the cooking, grocery shopping, handling household repairs, and even pretending to be good at DIY projects.
Given that Louise earns more than I ever may, excelling in the business realm, it seems wise for me to allow her to handle those aspects while I focus on other tasks instead.
‘But then I think, I’ve got lots to offer as well. I just need to figure out how to press go.’
