Louise Redknapp Reveals Why She Was Painted the ‘Villain’
On a recent Sunday, Louise Redknapp disclosed the reasons behind her portrayal as the ‘antagonist’ after her separation from her former spouse, Jamie.
In 2017, the singer parted ways with her former professional footballer spouse following 19 years of matrimony. They have two offspring, Charlie (age 20) and William (age 16), together.
In a recent conversation, Louise shared insights into the allegations that she abandoned her loved ones, acknowledging that various perspectives were expressed.
In her conversation with The Independent, she said, “I was seen as the antagonist. For quite some time, I had the good fortune to not receive much criticism or analysis. Suddenly, everyone seemed to have something to say about me.
‘I avoided anything that could be perceived as negative. Everything I said turned out to be wrong. Defending myself was a mistake, whether I did it or not. It felt like I was trapped on a one-way road with no exit.’
In another location, Louise mentioned that she’s prepared to step beyond her usual comforts, and her latest single even includes various sounds associated with intimacy.

She’s gearing up to launch her latest album, titled “Confessions,” and she’s firmly committed to creating innovative, forward-thinking music, rather than revisiting the past.
Louise stated that she’s unfazed by others’ opinions, as some of her friends have raised concerns about the number of sensual sounds in her latest song “Get Into It,” which includes expressions of intense pleasure.
Regarding Jon Shave, the collaborator on Charli XCX’s album Brat, she stated: “Jon sent me a message asking if there were excessively explicit sexual sounds in the mix. To which I responded, ‘Jon, more sexual sounds are always welcome!’
I’ve received similar comments quite often, and yes, I comprehend them fully. Over the years, I’ve stuck to my path and fulfilled expectations. However, now I find myself thinking, “Time for a change!” or perhaps more casually, “Enough of that!
After Louise talked about her divorce from Jamie on the Happy Place podcast, she acknowledged that her two sons were instrumental in providing her with strength throughout the separation process.
She expressed: ‘Without my children, I believe I might have succumbed. It was clear to me that they were my world, and I knew they relied on me.’
The singer confessed that the public’s examination of her marital dissolution only added to the difficulties she faced in handling it.
She commented: ‘However, I must truthfully assert, it’s quite challenging when you’re grappling with intense personal struggles amidst your unique journey. Yet, the added burden of receiving harsh criticism and unkind remarks only intensifies the hardship.’

‘I never realised people could be so unkind and say such terrible things. I blew my mind.’
I was already dealing with a lot, striving to remain resilient for my children. Whatever challenges we faced, they were personal matters that I felt were ours alone to handle – and I strongly believe everyone deserves their privacy in such circumstances.
‘And God, I was such a villain, and I was breaking like I was absolutely breaking.
As I delve deeper into this journey than I ever imagined, I continue my tireless efforts as a devoted mother.
Every time I stepped out, I’d try to appear courageous and carry on with activities, as if not doing so was somehow incorrect.
‘I felt like everything I did was so wrong.’
Listeners were quick to praise Louise, who has not remarried, for her honesty.
Louise appears refreshingly truthful, with a warm, down-to-earth demeanor. She’s sharing her knowledge with her children.
What a remarkable interview! It was so refreshingly honest, modest, and heartfelt. I appreciate your openness in sharing with us. Thank you so much!
‘Felt like I was sat with 2 girl friends… honest, real and inspiring’;
‘What an amazing interview [and] great to hear you speak your truth.’
After their separation, Jamie eventually fell in love with the Swedish model, Frida Andersson, and they got married in the year 2021. Subsequently, they welcomed a son into their family.
Louise, too, has experienced the joy of finding love once more. Since the year 2023, she has been involved romantically with entrepreneur Drew Michael.
