Louise Minchin is rushed to hospital after frostbite forced her to quit gruelling challenge

I was so shocked to hear that Louise Minchin had to be hospitalized with frostbite! Apparently, she had to pull out of a really tough adventure challenge, and things got serious enough that she needed urgent medical attention. It just goes to show how dangerous these extreme challenges can be, even for someone as fit and prepared as Louise.

The 57-year-old presenter was taking part in the Inuvik Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge to raise money for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. She tried to cycle 300 miles over three days in the Arctic Circle.

On Friday night, the BBC personality shared on Instagram that she and 61-year-old athlete Mimi Anderson had to withdraw from the competition to get medical attention.

‘ICE BIKE UPDATE,’ she began her caption.

We climbed to about 140,000 feet in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. At that altitude, both of us realized we were dangerously cold.

Even though we prepared thoroughly, the cold temperature and strong winds made continuing our journey extremely dangerous.

We made the right decision to stop when we did. We’ve both developed frostbite, but thankfully, we’re receiving excellent care and are still feeling positive.

‘Louise and Mimi x,’ Louise signed off finishing.

People quickly filled the comments with supportive messages for Louise, including many from other celebrities.

Greg Rutherford expressed concern for Lou, writing ‘Bloody hell Lou! Be safe ❤️❤️❤️,’ and Helen Skelton praised her, saying ‘What an achievement so far!’

Gaby Roslin wrote a heartfelt message saying, “Oh my word. Please take good care of yourself. ❤,” and Sally Nugen simply added, “Take care love xx.”

Louise is well-known for tackling tough physical challenges, and she recently appeared as a contestant on the Gladiators Celebrity Special.

For the famous Collision challenge, Louise had to transport balls across a bridge while dodging four Gladiators swinging to block her.

Louise scored eight points, but she also got hit in the face, resulting in a minor nosebleed.

After completing the challenge, she turned to Bradley Walsh and asked if she was hurt, saying, ‘Am I bleeding?’ He replied that she had just a small scrape and joked it was ‘for your suffering’.

Louise didn’t seem to be recovering well from the impact, and unfortunately fell again while exiting the arena.

I was so shocked to hear Louise talking about a scary incident on set! She mentioned getting kicked in the face during filming and said, ‘I don’t even know who hit my nose, but it was bleeding!’ It just goes to show how much they put themselves through for the show.

When someone’s actively opposing you, it doesn’t really bother you. But getting physically hit by them feels like running into something solid and unyielding. In this case, I was getting kicked at by incredibly strong legs – they were really powerfully built!
