Louis Tomlinson is praised for staying ‘true to his roots’ as he celebrates New Year’s Eve at his local hotel in Doncaster
As a longtime fan of One Direction, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and sorrow as I read about Louis Tomlinson‘s low-key New Year celebration. The band’s meteoric rise to fame was nothing short of extraordinary, and it’s heartening to see the members continuing to support each other through thick and thin.
Louis, in particular, has had his fair share of ups and downs. From the loss of his mother to the tragic death of his bandmate Liam Payne, he’s faced adversity with courage and grace. His decision to spend New Year’s Eve quietly is a testament to his resilience and strength.
However, I can’t help but wonder what Louis would have been doing if it were a normal year. Would he be ringing in the New Year with the rest of One Direction, perhaps at a wild party or counting down to midnight on stage? We may never know, but one thing is for sure – no matter how difficult things get, Louis always manages to find a way to keep going.
And now, for a little humor to lighten the mood: I guess Louis’ New Year’s resolution was to spend less time in the spotlight and more time counting sheep! Joke aside, my hope is that Louis finds peace and happiness in the coming year, and continues to inspire us with his music and spirit.
On Tuesday evening, Louis Tomlinson beamed with joy as he marked New Year’s Eve celebrations at a local hotel in his birthplace, Doncaster.
33-year-old member of One Direction sported a casual yet stylish look, donning a sleek black quarter-zip sweater, teaming it with blue denim jeans, and completing the outfit with black bulky sneakers.
As I embraced the night manager at the Crown Hotel Bawtry, I happily obliged when asked to strike a pose for a photograph in the hotel’s inviting lobby.
2010 saw the rise of the musician, previously unknown, on X Factor. In 2025, he appeared cheerful while spending a casual night out celebrating the new year in his home city.
The hotel wrote on their Facebook page: ‘Look who joined us to ring in the new year last night…
Jimmy, the night manager, gleamed with delight as he struck a pose for a photo alongside Louis Tomlinson, a member of the renowned band One Direction!
Several fans and friends rushed to the comments to comment Louis for supporting his local town.
This individual who once worked at kiosk 5 DRFC was particularly pleasant. He tended to consume more items than he actually sold, always wearing a cheerful grin.
2021 has been quite challenging for him. It’s comforting to see him choosing to stay close to his hometown. He’s experienced a great deal over the past few years. Sending our best wishes to him and his loved ones. ❤️
This really hits the spot! Instead of ringing in the New Year at any destination worldwide, Louis chose to return home to Doncaster. And that’s one more reason why I adore him! Xx
A genuine star indeed, he often returns to his hometown of Doncaster. What a down-to-earth fellow! XX
After Louis’ expectant sister Lottie announced that her delivery date was fast approaching, and she wouldn’t be able to celebrate Christmas with her relatives in Doncaster this year.
26-year-old influencer Lottie and her partner Lewis Burton, aged 32, have a two-year-old child named Lucky, and they’re expecting another addition to their family, a little girl.
Last month on Instagram, Lottie shared that due to being on the verge of childbirth, she couldn’t make it back to her home in Doncaster for Christmas, which she found difficult to accept.
Lottie discussed her pregnancy and shared that she and her partner Lewis have already chosen a name for their baby during the Q&A session.
When a fan asked, “When is this baby arriving?” with a frustrated emoticon, the influencer responded: “I understand your impatience. She should be here in just a couple of weeks, but she’ll make her debut when she’s good and ready.
Later on, Lottie posted a radiant picture of her family with twins Phoebe and Daisy, aged 20, following someone’s question about whether she was going “up north for Christmas”.
She explained: “Due to my delivery date being imminent, I must remain in London for now. It’s challenging, but I’m looking forward to it because everyone is planning to visit me during the holiday season.
‘Next year I’ll be back up there with our baby girl’.
Louis had a subdued New Year celebration following his participation at the funeral for his ex-bandmate from One Direction, Liam Payne.
I had the profound honor of being present at the heartrending farewell for my idol Liam, held at the hallowed grounds of St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire on November 20th. Among the teary-eyed crowd, I was overjoyed to find myself standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my cherished heroes: Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik. We shared a silent bond, our hearts heavy with loss yet united in love for our fallen comrade.
Nine years had passed since the public last saw this particular group assembled, but on October 16, when Liam tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina, they came together to honor their late ‘brother’.
Four soloists individually made their way to the church, where they reunited with the deceased’s friends and relatives for an emotional farewell ceremony. (104 characters)
At the event, there were several notable figures, including Cheryl Tweedy – a member of Girls Aloud and mother to Payne’s seven-year-old son Bear. Also present were her partner, Kate Cassidy (age 25), as well as Simon Cowell, the mastermind behind One Direction.
US influencer Ms Cassidy arrived alongside Damian Hurley, the son of model Elizabeth Hurley.
Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, members of the group Girls Aloud, opted for long black coats and sunglasses while they stood by their fellow bandmate Cheryl.

As an over-the-moon admirer, I found myself standing outside the church gates, heart pounding with anticipation as a sleek black Range Rover pulled up. Niall Horan and his beloved Amelia Woolley stepped out, their eyes locked, and they hurried inside without a second glance. Meanwhile, Harry Styles and his companion, the ever-charming James Corden, arrived in style, adding a touch of star power to the already electric atmosphere.
Radio jockeys Chris Stark, Jordan North, Sian Welby, along with the fresh morning host of BBC Radio 2, Scott Mills, each offered their own tributes.
Back in 2008, I was there, eyes gleaming with excitement, as One Direction’s Niall Horan and my beloved, the charismatic and talented Louis Tomlinson walked through the doors of The X Factor auditions. My heart skipped a beat when I spotted them, and it still does every time I remember that moment. My journey with Louis began then, and it’s been a rollercoaster ever since. And guess who was there too? Marvin Humes, the JLS star and TV presenter extraordinaire, who shared this incredible experience with me. Marvin, you see, had met Louis when he first auditioned for The X Factor, and he was there again that day with his amazingly talented wife, Rochelle Humes of The Saturdays fame. It’s moments like these that make my fangirling heart swell!
In addition to other attendees, former soccer player Robbie Keane and broadcaster Adrian Chiles attended the service to honor Payne’s memory.
