Lottie Tomlinson & Lewis Burton’s Non-Fairy Tale Start: Overcoming Tragedy Together
Lottie Tomlinson openly stated that her romance with partner Lewis Burton wasn’t initially like a storybook love, as they started dating just months after Caroline Flack passed away.
In August 2020, a 26-year-old social media influencer started an official relationship with a 32-year-old former tennis player. Now, they’re engaged and have two kids together – Lucky, who is two years old, and Flossy, only one month old.
Yet, the initial stages of their relationship proved challenging because it started shortly after the unfortunate demise of the television host.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share this heartbreaking tale. Tragically, the woman I adored, Caroline, took her own life in her London abode, mere days before her court appearance for allegedly assaulting Lewis. Our bond had only just surpassed the six-month mark.
In her memoir titled “Lucky Girl,” Lottie shared insights on the unusual start of her and Lewis’s relationship, confessing that it didn’t follow the conventional path.
In a nightclub, they encountered each other for the first time. Lottie disclosed that they exchanged a few words, but what stood out to her was his attractiveness, and she felt an instant attraction towards him.
Afterwards, they ran into each other again properly, thanks to their shared circle of friends. In her own words, “Lewis and I instantly found a connection with one another. He had just gone through a heart-wrenching loss, and it felt organic for us to offer our support.
The gathering that took place in May 2020 was a house party, and it was organized by Lou Teasedale, who is both a long-time friend of Caroline’s and a friend of Lottie’s after they became acquainted during their work on the X Factor.
That very summer, our romantic journey had been in the works for several months prior, with numerous exchanges, until we finally embarked on our official relationship.
She clarified: ‘Our relationship didn’t start like a storybook romance. Instead, we nurtured a friendship first by supporting one another during mutual experiences, and we couldn’t ignore the fact that we found each other appealing.’
In the early stages of our relationship, Lewis’ personal circumstances often added stress to our bond. At times, I felt we might not be able to continue, but my commitment kept me going.
‘In fact, we had a few conversations around how much easier it would be to go our separate ways.’
Each time I vowed to stay apart, an irresistible force seemed to pull us back into one another’s orbit. We found ourselves unable to resist our connection, and eventually, we decided to embrace it and see where this journey might lead us.
During the same month last year, Lottie and Lewis encountered scrutiny regarding their relationship as a confidential informant shared with TopMob that: “For several weeks, they’ve been clandestinely meeting, yet their blossoming camaraderie hasn’t escaped the notice of their common acquaintances.
As an ardent admirer, I must confess that while not everyone among Caroline’s circle seems content with the current state of affairs, I can empathize. After all, it’s clear that in these trying times, Lottie and Lewis have been each other’s rock, providing a shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough.
According to friends, it has been exceptionally challenging for Christine, particularly, to witness Lewis’s public transition.
In a non-traditional manner, my relationship with Lewis didn’t have an easy start.
From the outset, my relationship with Lewis wasn’t like most relationships. It had its challenges from the start.
The start wasn’t filled with laughter, joy, and ease; instead, it led us swiftly from the romantic phase to challenging experiences.
In somber situations, Lottie and Lewis crossed paths when they learned that Caroline had tragically ended her life following the news that she would undoubtedly face charges for attacking her partner. The coroner made this determination.
In December, prior to her demise, Caroline was apprehended for assault and indicted for attacking Lewis at her residence in Islington.
Although Lewis withdrew his accusation against Caroline, the authorities continued to investigate it, and both parties were instructed to avoid any interaction between them.
In Lottie’s book, she expresses how they both came to understand that they could face tough situations and challenging emotions side by side, a realization that ultimately fortified their relationship.
Two years after they began dating, welcomed their first child, got engaged, and published the book, she stated, ‘Now it’s evident that our relationship isn’t staged for a TV show, and I believe the public can recognize this as well.’
In the past month, the pair had another addition to their family – a baby girl named Flossy. They recently posted a monochrome photo showing their older child, Lucky, looking into his little sister’s crib.
Lottie told Instagram followers: ‘Our little angel has arrived and she’s perfect in every way.’
In July, the mother revealed she was pregnant for a second time by posting a video showing her expanding belly on her social media platforms.
Our small household is expanding, and we’re overjoyed and grateful because a new beautiful baby will be with us starting January 2025.
Simultaneously, Christine, Caroline’s mom, publicly stated on social platforms that her daughter’s relationship with Lewis was the cause of her demise.
2019 saw an intense argument between the two around midnight, following Caroline’s discovery of text messages from another woman on his phone. This altercation led to her striking him with a lamp, which resulted in her being charged with assault. These events triggered a decline in her mental health, culminating in her suicide on February 15, 2020.
As a lifestyle advisor, I must admit, discovering Lewis’ latest romantic endeavor left me grappling with disbelief, and I’ve pondered for quite some time now if the incriminating texts uncovered by Caroline on Lewis’ phone that fateful evening could have possibly been from Lottie.
According to Caroline’s agent’s statement to the Mail, what was mentioned in the text messages found on Lewis’s phone regarding their encounter that night is completely false. At the time of the incident, they had not met each other previously. This should put an end to that particular rumor.
