Lost star Evangline Lilly ‘spent a lot of money’ to ‘remedy deficiencies in my brain’ after traumatic injury

Evangeline Lilly recently shared with her fans how expensive and challenging it has been to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

On Saturday, actress Evangeline Lilly, 46, shared in an Instagram video that she’s spent a significant amount of money getting checked for and treated for brain injuries. These injuries were the result of a fall where she hit a rock face-first while at the beach in May.

Earlier this month, Lilly shared that doctors diagnosed her with a concussion and a traumatic brain injury following an accidental fall.

Lilly titled her latest post ‘Restore your brain health: Part 1!’

She revealed that she’d invested a significant amount of money in assessments and personalized expert guidance to help her brain recover.

The Lost star cautioned that, sadly, ‘Not everyone can afford to do this.’

She explained that the advice she received was personal to her situation and might not work for everyone. She clarified she isn’t a medical professional and doesn’t have special expertise in this area, but since affordable healthcare is hard to come by, she wanted to share what helped her.

Lilly began listing the supplements she was taking, claiming she’d been told by so-called experts that they would help with current mental weaknesses.

I’m incredibly grateful I can prioritize my health without financial worries,” she explained. “I want to share what I’ve learned in case others are dealing with the effects of a traumatic brain injury or concussion and want to focus on healing, but aren’t sure where to start.

She took several supplements, including NAC, creatine (first thing each morning on an empty stomach, believing it helped with absorption), resveratrol, and omega-3s. She used the omega-3s and resveratrol to help with inflammation and reduce what she called ‘brain fog’.

For dinner, Lilly also took coenzyme Q10 (often referred to as coQ10).

She jokingly confessed she’d completely forgotten how it was supposed to help her.

Lilly stated she wasn’t endorsing or suggesting any of the particular supplement brands featured in her video.

She added that the supplements were all recommended to her by a ‘specialist’ she saw in Hawaii.

She explained that she didn’t take her supplements as regularly as she took medication.

Lilly explained that while she’s currently taking a lot of supplements, she doesn’t take them every day. She only takes them when she feels she needs to, and will continue taking them for as long as she thinks necessary.

The actress revealed in January that she suffered brain damage in a frightening accident.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Evangeline Lily, like, the Kate Austen from Lost, finally posted on Instagram after being totally off the grid since her Marvel days! It was New Year’s Day, and she dropped this HUGE announcement… I’m still reeling, honestly. I’ve been following her forever and it’s just… amazing to hear from her again!

Lilly shared on Instagram that she’s starting 2026 – the year of the horse – with disappointing news about her concussion. She posted this update late on January 1st.

The scan results showed significant issues, and my brain isn’t working as well as it used to.

She added, ‘So, I do have brain damage from the TBI, and possibly other factors going on.’

This news arrives almost seven months after she first showed disturbing photos of the injuries she sustained in a bad fall at the beach.

In a New Year’s Day post, she shared that doctors have confirmed she has brain damage resulting from her traumatic brain injury. While it’s reassuring to know her cognitive issues aren’t simply due to perimenopause, she acknowledged it will be a challenging journey to improve her condition.

‘Thank you all for always asking, for always caring, and for your continued prayers.’

She explained that she now needs to work with doctors to understand what happened and then focus on finding a solution.

‘I don’t look forward to it because I feel, like, hard work is all I do.

It’s alright. While recovering from a serious facial injury, I’ve actually found that slowing down has allowed me to end 2025 feeling more peaceful and relaxed.

Lilly described the end-of-year period as ‘the most restful’ holiday season she’s ever experienced.

She continued, saying it was wonderful to be able to continue playing and experiencing life on Earth, and she felt incredibly thankful and fortunate for the opportunity.

‘That is my concussion update. Thank you all for caring.’

In May, Lilly took to her Instagram and posted a series of snaps looking bloodied and bruised.

The actress shared that she collapsed on the beach and fell headfirst into a rock, requiring immediate hospitalization.

When I woke up in the hospital, the nurses and doctor immediately started trying to figure out why I’d passed out, even before dealing with the cut on my face from the rock. I gave them a weak smile.

‘”You won’t find anything.” I said with a woozy voice…’

This news follows Evangeline Lilly’s recent announcement that she’s retiring from acting. Lilly became well-known for her role as Kate Austen on the ABC series Lost, and has been acting for two decades.

Last June, the Hollywood veteran remarked on Instagram about her departure from showbusiness.

‘I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision,’ wrote Evangeline.

I’m truly thankful for everything I have. Choosing a path guided by purpose, even when it means letting go of things like money and recognition, can be daunting, but ultimately it brings a deep sense of satisfaction.

Dharma is regarded in Hinduism as a cosmic law underlying right behavior and social order.

I was so thrilled to hear her talk about her future! She hinted that she might act again someday, but right now, she’s truly content with where she is. She said, and I quote, ‘I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.’ It’s amazing to see her so positive and excited about what’s next!

Prior to this, Evangeline said she wanted a standalone Marvel movie.

While filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and playing her character, Hope van Dyne/Wasp, the actress expressed her desire for Wasp to have her own standalone movie.

In February 2023, at the Los Angeles premiere of her film, Evangeline Lilly told Variety she believes it’s time for a spin-off focused on her character, Hope van Dyne, also known as the Wasp – a standalone Wasp movie, to be specific.

‘Do we agree? Anybody? Going once… going twice.’

The actress joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the 2015 film Ant-Man and has become a familiar face within the superhero world.

Evangeline explained that when they first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the original Avengers – like Black Widow, Iron Man, and Captain America – were already well-established. She and the newer heroes felt like newcomers trying to prove themselves.

We’ve quickly reached the start of Phase 5, and it’s an exciting feeling.

The actress previously revealed how she had plenty of input into the movie’s script.

She was eager to share her thoughts and opinions on the matter.

I used to lack confidence when sharing ideas, often dismissing them before even speaking. I’d frequently preface suggestions with self-deprecating phrases like, ‘This might not be good,’ or offer them as optional rather than confidently presenting them.
