Lost G2 Transformers Release Makes a Return in 2026

Newage Toys continues to release toys featuring a beloved classic character. Their newest action figure sports a bold, brightly colored design inspired by the style of the 1990s, using a color scheme that wasn’t widely seen before.

H71V Dick is a new version of the Autobot Sideswipe, created by a third-party company, and features a striking, vibrant color scheme. It’s based on a Sideswipe toy that was designed for the unreleased Transformers: Generation 2 line. After being shelved for decades, this Autobot is now available with a Vaporwave-inspired look.

Sideswipe’s Vaporwave Generation 2 Colors Live On in New Transformers Release

H71V Dick Sunset is a new color version of the H71 Dick toy, which is a third-party take on Sideswipe from the original Transformers Generation 1. Like previous versions, this toy comes with two sets of interchangeable hands, a blaster, and a gun that can be held or attached as a shoulder cannon. It also transforms into a car that closely resembles Sideswipe’s classic look, but with a modern update.

This new version of the toy stands out with a bright neon yellow and blue color scheme, a departure from the classic red, black, and white. It’s inspired by an unreleased design for Sideswipe from the Transformers: Generation 2 line, which was planned for release in 1995. Luckily, a collector named H71V Dick managed to obtain a sample that featured a unique sunset decal on the hood, and that detail has been incorporated into this new release.

Newage Toys recently revealed initial photos of this updated toy, giving fans a preview of its classic design. While a release date isn’t confirmed, similar versions of the toy – nicknamed “Dick” – will be available next month for approximately $83.99.

The Sideswipe toy mold, also known as “Dick,” was also used for a rare, yellow version of the character. Fans call it “Vaporwave Sideswipe” or “Sunset Sideswipe.” This color scheme was originally planned for an unreleased toy from the Generation 2 line, but it was later released as a repaint of Sideswipe in the Transformers: Legacy series. In contrast, the more popular Generation 2 version of Sideswipe had a mostly black color scheme, which matched the darker tone of the Transformers: Generation 2 comic books.
