Lorde Stuns Met Gala in Daring Bandeau Top That Nearly Causes Wardrobe Disaster

At the 2025 Met Gala in New York City on Monday, Lorde’s attire was quite expressive when she made her arrival.

The New Zealand singer, aged 28, nearly experienced a wardrobe issue while wearing a clingy gray bandeau top on the red carpet.

The singer finished off her outfit by wearing a skirt in the same color, adorned with a back lace-up detail, and carried a silk blazer that matched it perfectly.

Lorde paired her outfit with a set of gray high-heels and chose simple jewelry, including silver earrings, a diamond wristband, and a ring.

As an ardent admirer, I’d say, I gathered my luscious, dark-brown tresses into a neat braid, and to keep the focus on my eyes, I opted for a soft, understated makeup look. A hint of blush graced my cheeks, adding a touch of warmth, while my lips were accentuated with a delicate nude shade.

At the event, Lorde captured everyone’s attention upon her arrival, then she turned to show off a backless accessory attached to her outfit.

It comes after Lorde recently sent fans into a frenzy with her jaw-dropping new album cover.

On a surprising note, the New Zealand singer revealed the album cover for “Virgin” on Friday, which depicted an X-ray image resembling her lower torso, highlighting her hips, a belt buckle, and a zipper.

In the picture, an item resembling an intrautterine device (IUD), which is T-shaped, has fueled discussions suggesting it might be a daring political statement.

On her website, Lorde disclosed that her upcoming album was entirely penned “in blood” and is scheduled for release on June 27th.

But the shock factor didn’t stop there.

In just under a day’s time, the artist from the Royal family increased the excitement by posting striking, topless photos on Instagram, as shown here.

In a photo where she stands confidently with her arms folded across her chest by a window, and another image showing her sitting bare-chested while hugging her knees, Lorde posted, ‘Spending time with Martine for @documentjournal.’ This suggests that these almost nude pictures were taken as part of a magazine feature.

Another slide in the series featured Lorde donning black Calvin Klein underwear beneath a see-through black top, creating a bold juxtaposition with the more private images.

Meanwhile, Lorde also recently released her first new music in four years, the song What Was That.

On April 25, she simultaneously launched the song together with a music video. Part of this video was shot while she was cycling towards Washington Square Park prior to her surprise concert of the track.

Lorde’s initial significant release in nearly four years has been unveiled, coming after her 2021 Solar Power album.

Born in New Zealand, Lorde stands among the top-selling singers the country has ever produced. Her hit single “Royals,” released in 2013, climbed to the top of the American charts and was later awarded an impressive 14-time platinum certification.
