Lorde is back with the announcement of her newest single, “What Was That.”
The New Zealand artist announced on Instagram that her new work is coming soon, though she hasn’t yet disclosed the exact launch date. She also shared an image which appears to be the cover art. Recently, she made her debut on TikTok and hinted at a fresh tune with the lyrics “Ever since I was 17, I’ve given you everything / Now we’re waking up from a dream, darling, what did that mean? / What did that mean?
Lorde’s new single, titled “What Was That,” is set to be her first solo release in four years, coming after her third studio album Solar Power. Released in 2021, Solar Power had no guest appearances and was primarily produced by Jack Antonoff and Lorde herself. The record peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
