Andrea McLean, a popular figure on the talk show Loose Women, recently provided a health update following an alarming health issue that brought her close to death’s door.
In February, the previous panelist on ITV’s show revealed that she had fought off pneumonia and sepsis about a month earlier, following a bout of flu contracted in December.
For five days, she was hospitalized, which included a stay at the respiratory department. Upon discharge, she was instructed to continue her treatment as an outpatient.
After going through her harrowing experience, McLean expressed her conviction that had she not gone to the hospital at the time she did, she would not be alive today.
She shared with The Mirror that at the moment, she didn’t fully comprehend how critical my illness was. However, the doctors had informed her husband, Nick, that if I hadn’t been rushed to the hospital when I did, and if we delayed seeking help for another 24 hours, my situation might have become so grave that I wouldn’t be alive today.

Speaking candidly about her recent hospitalization, she shared, “I stood up to head to the restroom, but instead of making it there, I fell to the ground. When the paramedics eventually arrived, they mentioned my blood pressure was extremely low and needed immediate attention before transporting me.
The room we sleep in is located upstairs in the attic. They found it difficult to navigate the stretcher around a narrow curve, but eventually, I descended the stairs, slipped, and was taken urgently to the hospital. Over the following weeks, what transpired had an everlasting impact on my life.
She added: “I’ve experienced COVID-19 three times, and as a result of long COVID, I’ve been consistently fatigued and have a lingering frailty that makes it easy for me to catch minor illnesses.

For quite some time now, I’ve been feeling off-balance. When my spouse and child fell ill with the widespread flu in December, it was inevitable that I would catch it as well.
Despite my best efforts, that experience continued to haunt me. I found myself unable to move past it, and eventually, it reached a breaking point the day I collapsed. My blood pressure plummeted to an extremely low 60/40, and I suspect my body simply couldn’t sustain itself any longer. To this day, it remains quite low.
In January, she kept going in and out of the hospital. It wasn’t until she got back home that she truly understood the extent of what had transpired.
