Loose Women star pulls out of panto after “bumpy few weeks”

Loose Women star Denise Welch has pulled out of a role on the stage following a “bumpy few weeks”.

In July, both the performer and announcer made it official that they’d be taking on the role of Captain Hook in the Nottingham Theatre Royal’s rendition of Peter Pan. Their performance was set to kick off this month.

It turned out, only a week before the scheduled start, that Welch, known for roles on “Coronation Street” and “Waterloo Road”, was unable to participate in the production because of poor health. Instead, Richard Winsor was chosen to step in.

On December 29th, a video was shared on Instagram Stories by Welch, featuring herself with her son, Matty Healy from the band 1975, and his partner Gabbriette Bechtel. In this video, she opened up about her health struggles before delving into her Christmas experiences.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been grappling with some tough health issues lately, unfortunately forcing me to step down from my role in this year’s pantomime after a twelve-year run. Yet, the festive season brought a ray of hope, as I found myself well enough to celebrate Christmas with my cherished family.

As a gamer putting on my acting cap for a moment, I’d rephrase that like this: Back in 2005, I made my debut on the chat show “Loose Women”. More recently, I found myself stepping into the world of ITV’s soap opera, “Emmerdale”, taking on the role of a juror during Tom King’s court trial. Over two thrilling episodes, I had the privilege to be part of this captivating storyline, and let me tell you, it was an honor!

She expressed that, much like many others, I found myself captivated by the tale of Belle and Tom. It was a great privilege for me to serve as the lead juror during its climax, she stated. Portions of the script were inspired by genuine cases, and the charity Refuge contributed significantly to the research process.

In a different wording: “Since Heidi, my character, seemed deeply emotionally entangled, I speculated that she might have been a victim of domestic abuse. Interacting with Charlie Dale, Jack Ellis, and many of my ‘Emmerdale’ colleagues during the jury scenes made this job particularly memorable.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
