Loose Women star hits out at ITV over “absolutely brutal” cuts: “I feel tearful about it”
Actress Nadia Sawalha from the show Loose Women expressed her feelings towards ITV’s severe reductions, stating that she feels sad and emotional about the situation.
Recently, ITV disclosed significant changes to their daytime shows lineup, impacting “Loose Women”, “Lorraine”, “This Morning”, and “Good Morning Britain”.
Beginning in 2026, the broadcast of our shows will shift to a fresh location in central London. Specifically, “Good Morning Britain” is going to expand by a full extra hour.

From now on, the show Lorraine will air for 30 weeks following a seasonal pattern and will be shortened to just 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Loose Women will resume its previous schedule of 12:30pm to 1:30pm, also on a 30-week basis.
On their YouTube channel on a Wednesday, Sawalha, together with her husband Mark Adderly, expressed her opinions about how both ‘Lorraine’ and ‘Loose Women’ programs air for just 30 weeks annually.
In her opinion, the popular talk show “Loose Women” is thriving. She went on to argue that discussions regarding potential budget reductions are sexist in nature, and later explained how such cuts might impact her personally.
On Loose Women, it’s not always clear that each of us works as independent contractors rather than employees. In my case, I am self-employed, which means every agreement or job is a new arrangement.
Our employment status is uncertain; it might end tomorrow or in five years, as we’re not company employees.
Sawalha expressed: “Over the past week, it’s been incredibly harsh – to the point where I find myself on the verge of tears – as hundreds of employees who work tirelessly behind the scenes and support us in countless ways are suddenly facing redundancy.
Earlier, regarding the reductions, Kevin Lygo, Head of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Branch, acknowledged that these changes might affect employees behind the scenes in our Daytime production units, saying: “I understand that our strategies may influence the workforce off-camera in our Daytime programming departments.
We’ll collaborate with ITV Studios and ITN in handling the changes, so they can create the shows in a new way starting from next year. We’ll be there to assist them during this transition period.
For more than four decades, daytime programming has been a cornerstone of ITV’s broadcasting schedule. These modifications are designed to enable ITV to carry on delivering top-notch news, opinions, and debates to its viewers, as we move forward into our 8th decade.
