Loose Women star Andrea McLean breaks down in tears as she addresses her decision to leave the UK for Spain after near-death health scare and failed business
In simpler terms, Andrea McLean shared on Instagram this morning that she’s relocating to Spain for a fresh start, expressing her feelings emotionally.
Previously on Loose Women, this 55-year-old ex-host seemed distraught when she admitted that she hadn’t anticipated needing to share such an unexpected revelation.
Ever since her departure from Loose Women in 2019, this mother of two has encountered a series of financial struggles and health issues.
She announced on social media, “It’s possible you’ve read or heard in the news that we’re relocating. And indeed, we are! Here’s a peek at our current situation as we pack up.” Then she directs her camera to a room stacked with boxes.
In a roundabout way, I found myself in the spotlight recently. A casual chat I had turned into news headlines. So, here I am, ready to share my thoughts and insights.
Andrea openly shared her reasons for departing the UK, noting that she’s faced some challenging times over the past few years, as is evident from extensive public records.

Apart from my business struggles, it became apparent early this year that not only was I physically ailing, but it also made me acutely aware that life offers just one opportunity. Consequently, it’s essential to cherish each day and make the most of it.
Nick Feeney, her husband, moved closer to give her a hug while she said, “I can’t figure out why I’m tearing up. It seems rather foolish of me, I hadn’t intended for it to happen.
For those familiar with me, it’s no secret that my dream has long been to reside near the ocean under the sunshine. And now, we are making that dream a reality, despite the less-than-ideal timing; after all, timing doesn’t always align as we’d prefer.
Every moment isn’t ideal, but it struck me at the beginning of this year that we never truly know how many opportunities we may miss. That’s why it’s essential to grasp those moments when they come.
‘It’s a good thing, it’s scary. I have no idea how things are going to pan out,’ she confessed.
Supporters and companions promptly extended their good wishes, with one remarking, ‘Indeed, fresh experiences; sending you affection.’
2020 saw Andrea depart from Loose Women to focus on various new ventures, one of which is the establishment of her female empowerment brand, This Girl On Fire.
Earlier this year, she opted for a challenging move to close down the business, which, despite receiving funds from the sale of Andrea’s £1 million property in Surrey, had been unable to generate substantial income.

A few months ago, she experienced a close encounter with death when she was discovered unconscious at home by her husband, Nick Feeney, towards the end of last year.
Andrea was urgently taken to the hospital due to severe sepsis and pneumonia, and medical professionals informed her that delaying treatment even a little longer might have proved fatal.
According to a source, Andrea is considering relocating overseas with Nick, following some challenging times, as she aims to devote herself fully to her writing profession.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m proud to share that I’ve penned down and successfully published three best-selling literary works: “This Girl Is On Fire,” “Confessions of a Good Girl,” and “Confessions of a Menopausal Woman.” Each book is a unique expression of my insights and experiences, designed to inspire and empower readers.
According to the source, the past couple of years have been challenging for the business financially, and it hasn’t managed to bounce back. Andrea chose to formally shut down the business this year due to these financial difficulties.
Now, Andrea is arranging a fresh start in Spain with her spouse, Nick. Following a close brush with death, Andrea has shifted her priorities towards cherishing her family and friends.
She’s doing exceptionally well, radiating positivity, still deeply in love with Nick, and now that her children have grown up, she is content and managing her life effectively.
Andrea has two children, Finlay and Amy, with previous partners.
She admitted earlier this year that her health scare ‘changed her life forever’.
Andrea shared with The Mirror, “I hadn’t fully understood how serious my condition was at that moment. However, the doctors informed my husband, Nick, that if I hadn’t been taken to the hospital when I was, and if we had waited an additional 24 hours before seeking help, there’s a possibility I wouldn’t be alive today.

She added: ‘What happened over the next few weeks changed my life for ever.’
For over an hour, starting in December, the woman aged 55 found herself stretched out on the floor, unnoticed until her husband stumbled upon her.
Subsequently, she was rushed to the hospital via emergency lights. Upon several rounds of X-rays and CT scans, it was found that she was battling severe pneumonia, a critical kidney issue, and sepsis.
After pondering over the harrowing incident, she remarked: ‘Just a few short weeks after returning home, it dawned on me the full extent of what transpired – that had I not sought medical attention that day, I might not exist today.’
Andrea confessed that the fright prompted her to cherish each moment more, yet she acknowledged in February that she hadn’t fully recovered from her ailment.
Additionally, she expressed gratitude towards her husband Nick, who she mentioned was equally affected during that period. He faithfully drove her to the hospital daily, spent countless hours at clinics while waiting for her, prepared meals for everyone, and gently put her to rest each night.
The presenter recently came back on TV a couple of weeks ago, informing her Instagram audience that it was her first time in the studio in a while. However, she mentioned she’d experienced significant hair thinning or shedding.

Andrea shared: ‘I’m making my comeback on live TV after quite a while. To be honest, I’m feeling somewhat anxious. Despite this apprehension, I’m excited about it, as I genuinely enjoy working with television productions. However, since it’s been a while, I must admit that I’m also a bit frightened.’
I understand that my eagerness stems from the fact that I value the task at hand and wish to excel without appearing inept, which is quite typical. In essence, I am experiencing a mix of apprehension and excitement.
She went on saying, “Everyone experiences similar feelings. It’s going to be alright when I get started with it. I truly believe that deep within me. And, it seems like I always appear unkempt!
Due to my experiences with Covid, pneumonia, and the potent medications that followed, I’ve noticed a significant amount of hair loss. It no longer behaves as it once did.
I find myself accepting this situation because there aren’t many other options available. At the same time, there’s a sense of liberation in that predicament as well. I appreciate the defiant spirit of it.
