The recently unveiled Epic Universe stands as the globe’s freshest theme park, truly embodying its title. This innovative park offers a multitude of state-of-the-art attractions, unlike any previously created. After exploring Epic Universe myself, I can confidently attest that it surpasses all expectations, with director Steven Spielberg playing a significant role in this remarkable achievement.
At TopMob, we’re still unable to agree on which Epic Universe attraction is the absolute best, as the topic remains a point of contention among us. However, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment consistently ranks high on our list. In a recent TV special titled “Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe,” accessible with a Peacock subscription, Steven Spielberg – a longtime collaborator in the development of Universal parks – shared that he played a significant role in bringing this attraction to life. He stated…
I’ve been advocating for an exhilarating theme park ride that brings together all our beloved movie monsters into one grand, frightening yet fun adventure. As a global executive consultant in the theme park industry since the 1980s, it seems only fitting to create a space that honors Universal’s legacy with these iconic film monsters.
It’s no wonder that a theme park land devoted to the legendary horror films of Universal and the popular Halloween Horror Nights events, named Dark Universe, eventually made its debut.
Instead of picking just one classic Universal Monster for a main event, why don’t we feature all of them in a grand spectacle? The lineup includes Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, and my preferred character, the Phantom of the Opera, in the thrilling exhibition called “Monsters Unleashed”.
It seems that Steven Spielberg played a significant role in the creation of an attraction where various monsters are gathered together. In this ride’s narrative, Doctor Victoria Frankenstein – the granddaughter of the original Doctor Victor Frankenstein – acts as part of the attraction and has captured all the monsters to conduct experiments on them. However, things take a turn for the worse when Dracula becomes the subject of her final experiment.
For many years, Steven Spielberg has served as a significant advisor for Universal. His movie series have significantly contributed to their theme parks, such as the still-operational E.T. dark ride at Universal Studios Florida and Jaws being a central attraction of the Universal Studios Hollywood Backlot Tour. In fact, Spielberg was moved to tears while visiting the Studio Tour.
Not only does Steven Spielberg delight us with his remarkable films, but he also leaves a significant impact on the magical realm of theme parks. Without his influence, the enchanting Dark Universe may not have reached its current greatness.
