According to the preview for season 10, Tosh and Calder will be investigating a particularly grim and challenging case this season.
The team learns the body of the retired social worker had been exposed to the weather for several days, according to a preview of the episode.
Detectives Tosh and Calder will thoroughly investigate the victim’s life, both her history and current circumstances, as well as the lives of everyone connected to her. Their investigation quickly reveals hidden secrets and disturbing acts within the seemingly quiet community.
The detective drama Shetland originally centered around DI Jimmy Perez, portrayed by Douglas Henshall, when it began in 2013. Perez was a key figure in the stories, working alongside Tosh, for the first seven seasons. In season eight, a new detective, DI Calder, played by Jensen, joined the team.
Season 5, which was among the final appearances of Perez, received an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics particularly impressed by the portrayal of the detective inspector’s personal struggles.
According to The Times, Shetland is consistently enjoyable thanks to its dark, atmospheric setting and beautiful, isolated scenery. However, the show is particularly strong in its nuanced portrayal of Detective Perez’s personal life.
The latest installment of the show has received four reviews so far, including a positive one from The Times praising the transition from Perez to Calder. A recent review stated, “Good job, Shetland.”
The show has successfully continued after DI Jimmy Perez’s departure, with Ashley Jensen taking the lead in a charmingly quirky style. The new series began with a particularly smart and engaging opening on BBC1.
Season 10 of Shetland starts November 5th on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. You can watch past seasons now on iPlayer.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
