Long-delayed Jumanji sequel gets exciting filming update after 6-year wait

A new *Jumanji* movie is officially being made, following the release of *Jumanji: The Next Level* in 2019, six years ago.

Dwayne Johnson recently confirmed to Variety that he and Kevin Hart will be working together again on “Jumanji 3” this November. He also expressed his fondness for past projects, saying he’s open to revisiting them in the future.

The movie is set to hit theaters on December 11, 2026, and will feature Karen Gillan and Jack Black alongside the returning cast. Jake Kasdan, who directed the first two films, is directing this third installment, and the writing team of Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg are also back.

When asked about the continued delays of the movie the following year, Gillan told The Hollywood Reporter that coordinating everyone’s availability was likely the challenge. She hadn’t received any updates beyond the confirmation that the film would eventually be made, adding that everyone involved was excited and enjoyed working on the project – it was simply a question of timing.

Jumanji 3 is expected to land in cinemas on 11 December 2026.
