London is a Scary Place
In an open conversation, Tamara Ecclestone disclosed that she continues to grapple with the emotional aftermath of a 2019 break-in at her residence where intruders made off with approximately £25 million in jewelry and cash.
In a suspected UK record-breaking home invasion, the luxurious £70m residence of the 40-year-old socialite, located on ‘Billionaire’s row’ in Kensington, West London, was hit. Notably, this occurred while the homeowner, Tamara, was vacationing with her family.
Despite the fact that six years have elapsed since the robbery, Tamara acknowledged that the journey has remained challenging for her. She’s needed to implement substantial alterations and exert additional care to regain a sense of security.
She shared with The Mirror: “It’s been challenging; I’ve needed to adapt and institute precautions to help me feel as safe as possible. Unfortunately, London can be intimidating, many of my friends have gone through similar situations.
In 2021, three Italian individuals admitted their guilt for conspiring to burglarize a string of properties, among which was the residence of Frank and Christine Lampard located nearby.
The men were sentenced to eight to 11 years in prison and returned to Italy to serve their terms.
Tamara, who is known as the daughter of F1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone, is currently married to Jay Rutland, a prominent art investor aged 43. Together with him, she was featured on the ITV reality series called ‘Tamara’s World’. The pair have two daughters, Sophia (age 10) and Serena (age 4).
Additionally, Tamara shared insights into how her oldest child, Sophia, had been deeply affected emotionally, as she found it difficult to feel secure at home following the harrowing incident.
She mentioned: “We’ve been doing our best to ensure safety at home and keep moving, given the difficulties she faced. There’s not much we can control in this situation.
I’ve had numerous conversations with her, and thankfully, she seems to be in a more positive state now. It was truly challenging for me to grasp that someone so young could experience such troubling thoughts.
Last month, Tamara disclosed that she thinks the £25 million burglary at her residence was perpetrated from within – and worries that certain perpetrators might escape British legal proceedings without being brought to justice.
Six years after marauders plundered her residence, stealing diamonds and other precious items, the star finally broke her silence, speaking publicly for the first time since then.
She shared with The Times that discussing the topic is challenging, given her daughter now can search information on Google.
‘We lied to her when it happened because she was young, but she found out anyway.’
Apart from sharing other details, Tamara mentioned that due to a concern for potential kidnapping, she always accompanies two security personnel when traveling. This is because her father, who stands at 5 feet 4 inches tall, has unfortunately experienced multiple break-ins.
She explained that the burglary left her feeling certain that not everything is as it seems, even when it comes to trusted individuals. Time and again, she’s discovered this lesson to be true, but this incident particularly drove the point home for her.
The high-society individual voiced annoyance because those suspected of wrongdoing are still at large, whereas not a single one of the 400 missing items has been found yet.
I remarked: “To be honest, the most disappointing part of this situation is that those who were involved are unlikely to be brought to justice in the UK.
‘I think it is worse getting caught and then nothing actually happening to them.’
When queried if she believed the break-in was an internal affair, she responded: “To be honest, I’m not supposed to discuss that matter, but it’s hard for me to imagine any other possibility.
In reference to the incident following the burglary, Tamara expressed her feelings by saying, “It made me feel invaded. We even contemplated relocating, perhaps even to a different country.
Initially, I contemplated, but then I realized, in actuality, this dwelling belongs to me. Prior to this incident, it was always a source of joy and happiness.
In 2011, she acquired a house for £45 million, but today, homes on that very same street are appraised at more than £200 million each.
