Wild Rift is about to receive a champion that’s only available in that game, and all signs point to it being Norra, a strong yordle who is also Yummi’s teacher.
Wild Rift, the popular mobile version of League of Legends, turned five years old on October 27th. To thank its players, Riot Games has announced exciting updates for the next year, including a brand-new champion. Many fans think they already know who this champion will be!
Wild Rift announces exclusive champion
So, during the Wild Rift anniversary stream, they dropped a huge bomb – the game is getting its very first champion that only exists on mobile! They’re keeping the name a secret for now, but honestly, the clues they’ve been leaving around are pretty obvious, and I think I have a good idea who it’s going to be.
Wild Rift recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that their next champion will be a mage who plays best in the middle lane. The announcement itself didn’t reveal much, but a picture shared alongside it has fans thinking the champion could be Norra, a small, magical creature called a yordle. If true, Norra would be a champion unique to the Wild Rift version of the game.
Who is Norra?
If you don’t know much about the backstory of League of Legends, you might not know who this character is. Riot Games first hinted at Norra in 2019, when they introduced the champion Yuumi. Learning about Yuumi’s story also gave us a first look at Norra’s past.
Yuumi is a small, magical creature who travels between the physical and spiritual worlds with her beloved cat, Norra. According to official lore, Yuumi uses her enchantments to keep Norra safe and comfortable, even warming her paws after their adventures.

Norra disappeared suddenly. Legend says she journeyed to a dangerously remote place and destroyed the portal behind her. Determined to find her, Yuumi consulted her master’s Book, which held the key. Its thousand pages each revealed a path to a different location, and contained the magical connections between the physical and spiritual worlds.
Yuumi and Book faced a difficult and risky journey across strange lands, all to rescue their master and return her safely home.
Yuumi and Book are an unlikely pair, but they’ve quickly become close friends because they both care deeply for Norra. Yuumi hasn’t given up looking for her master, and she dreams of being able to relax and nap in the sun with Norra again.

Norra’s in the League of Legends universe
Norra isn’t new to the world of League of Legends; she’s appeared in other games within the franchise before. She originally debuted in Legends of Runeterra as one of four champions created specifically for that game. She was released as part of the ‘Awakening’ expansion on August 31, 2022.

Two years after her initial appearance, the champion joined Teamfight Tactics (TFT) in the Magic n’ Mayhem set (Set 12), which launched in July 2024. She was featured in the Portal deck alongside champions like Ezreal, Galio, Jayce, Kassadin, Ryze, Taric, and Zoe. When she was added to the game, she was a powerful five-star unit from the Portal synergy, providing a strong 1500 shield and creating a large portal with ten different elements on the board.

The Brawl shopkeeper
Norra hadn’t been seen in League of Legends after appearing in Teamfight Tactics, but she returned in April 2025 with the start of Season 2 and its Spirit Blossom event. She took on a new role as the shopkeeper for the new Brawl game mode! You might have overlooked her, but she was always there, ready to help you buy the items you needed.

When will Norra come to Wild Rift?
While all signs suggest Norra is the next champion, we’re still waiting for Riot Games to officially confirm it. They have announced, however, that the new champion is expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
Her abilities are currently a mystery, but given her power to create portals between dimensions, that ability could be a key part of her gameplay. In other games like Teamfight Tactics, portals provided strong shields, and that could be incorporated into her Wild Rift kit as well. You can get a sneak peek at her character design by looking at her models in Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics.

Can Norra come to League of Legends?
Anything is possible! Although Riot hasn’t announced anything, the rich backstory of League of Legends means there’s always potential for new characters. Could Norra be one of them, joining the battle in the Rift?
