LoL patch notes 25.24: Winter skins, Mel nerf, and more

I was so excited to see patch 25.24 drop on December 3rd! It’s got some really interesting changes – they’re giving AP Sejuani a nice boost, and Mel’s E ability is getting toned down a bit. Plus, they released those gorgeous new Winter skins, and there’s a ton of other stuff too!

The latest update for League of Legends (LoL), patch 25.24, is now available! It includes changes to several well-known champions, and to celebrate the end of the year, it also features a brand new collection of Winter skins.

Season 3 ranked season

Season 3 is finishing up soon! Your ranked progress will be saved on January 7th. We’ll temporarily disable ranked queues for 12 hours while the League of Legends team gets everything ready for the start of Season 1 in 2026. This season, you can earn a Victorious Draven skin and its color variations as a reward. Plus, Riot is offering extra in-game accessories to celebrate your best ranked performance of the year!

WASD release

League of Legends is getting the much-discussed WASD movement controls soon! After testing, it’s leaving the public beta environment and rolling out to most normal, unranked games in all regions. Currently, Draft and Ranked modes won’t have WASD support.

Because this is an early test version of the game, Riot Games may temporarily disable certain champions or features if they cause problems for players. In this update, Briar and Taliyah won’t be controllable using the standard WASD keys. Please report any bugs or issues you find to Player Support so the developers can fix them.

LoL patch notes 25.24: Champions

Patch 25.24 for League of Legends will focus on improving Sejuani. She’s become one of the weaker junglers recently, especially with other champions being adapted to the jungle role. To help her, Riot Games is making changes to allow her to be played effectively in the top lane and to strengthen her abilities when built with Ability Power.

Mel received the biggest adjustments in this update. She’s been a very powerful champion in the mid lane since she was released, often making games tough for opponents. For now, Riot is slightly reducing the strength of her ability, E, to make her easier to play against. They’re also planning more substantial changes in the future to balance her overall.

Riot recently updated the Bloodline rune, but it hasn’t had the desired effect in League of Legends, so they’re planning another small adjustment.

LoL patch notes 25.24: New skins

Our next update will bring six new character skins to the store. We’re releasing winter-themed skins for Smolder, Zeri, and Milio, perfect for the winter map. Plus, look out for brand new Mythic skins for Lucian and Nami, and a special Prestige Winterblessed skin for Mel.
