LoL patch 25.S1.2 notes and release date: Mel release and Atakhan changes

LoL patch 25.S1.2 will be out on Jan. 23. Check out all of the details here.

In simple terms, the LoL Patch 25.S1.2 is set to release on January 23rd. Although some minor adjustments were made in the emergency patch released on January 10th, irrespective of the Feats of Strength, Riot Games’ team continues to work on fine-tuning new mechanics and monsters introduced with this season. Additionally, Swiftplay has undergone some updates as well.

LoL patch 25.S1.2: System changes

Atakhan

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that Voracious Atakhan has been appearing in less than 15% of my League of Legends games, but RiotPhroxzon, the lead gameplay designer, mentioned they aim to bump it up to 25%. To balance things out, his power level will be reduced and the reward for withdrawing him from a kill will change from 100 gold and one bloody petal to 200 gold and one bloody petal. Despite some competitive gamers calling Atakhan “extremely overpowering,” there haven’t been any further updates on him yet, but RiotPhroxzon reassured us that they will continue keeping an eye on him.

Bloody roses

In the revised version of the game, the powerful roses will receive a balancing adjustment due to their limited impact on gameplay complexity. RiotPhroxzon explained that reducing their base XP from 25 to 23 per petal and lowering the minimum adaptive force per stack from 39 to 34 stacks will make them less overpowered, while still maintaining a satisfying experience for players who choose to pick them up.

System nerfs

  • Bloody Roses: Base XP per petal: 25 → 23 – Adaptive Force per Stack Minimum: 39 stacks → 34
  • Voracious Athakan: Withdraw “Kill” Reward: 100 + 1 Bloody Petal → 200 + 1 Bloody Petal

System adjustments

  • Feats of Strength (named changed to Feats of Warfare): First Blood → First to Three Kills
  • Voracious Athakan: More frequent (15% of the games → 25% of the games)

Threshold

  • Threshold in Normal/Ranked Games: Reduced by around 20%
  • Threshold in Swiftplay Games: Reduced by around 20%

Blue Essence, XP, and Homeguard

In the next update, players will receive compensation for Blue Essence, as the previous adjustments turned out to be impractical and received significant backlash from the gaming community.

  • Total Blue Essence From Milestones Increased: 4750 → 9000, starting with Act 2
  • One-time Compatible Mission for 4250 BE to make up for the difference in Act 1, live with this patch, until the end of this Act
  • Blue Essence From Repeatable Milestones Increased: 50 → 750 BE, live with this patch
  • Changing the Last Champion Capsule in the Pass to a Glorious Champion Capsule, starting with Act 2
  • Account XP gains increased by 40%, live this patch

In the game Summoner’s Rift, the effect known as Homeguard, which boosts a champion’s movement speed while they are respawning, will now extend across the whole platform instead of just a specific area. However, the duration of this effect will be reduced from 7 seconds to 6 seconds.

Mel Medarda release

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining the game soon! Here’s a rundown of my entire kit:

My debut skin, “Arcane Councilor Mel,” is set to drop on January 23rd. It will come at a price of 1,350 RP.

In addition to Mel’s character, the Mythmaker skin set will also be introduced. This lineup includes Jhin, Nami, Jarvan IV, and Prestige Mythmaker Cassiopeia. After the adjustments to the honor system, Shen will be the inaugural champion to receive a Three Honors skin.

In update 25.S1.2 for League of Legends, there will be modifications to several items, particularly those used by Attack Damage Carry (ADC) champions, to address issues involving tank characters within the game.

Swiftplay

The initial significant Swiftplay adjustment intends to rectify some underlying problems and tackle champion balance discrepancies that stand out. Essentially, Riot Games plans to reduce the excessive power of champions in late-game scenarios by making late-game experience and gold more predictable. This means that characters who traditionally struggle during early game phases won’t have those weaknesses hindering their performance anymore.

Instead, the game system has been altered such that additional gold gained through champion abilities will not result in increased gold for opposing teams or adjustments to their bounties.

These sources of gold:

  • Are increased by your rubberbanding
  • Do not contribute to enemy rubberbanding
  • Do not count when calculating your rubberbanding

Greetings, ARAM enthusiasts! In this latest update, Riot Games is prioritizing the modification of modifiers for spells on two favorite champions: Sett and Sona. For Sett, a portion of the damage from his W ability will be moved to other skills in order to make them more versatile. Concerning Sona, an increase in her Ability Haste is expected due to a reduction in the influence of her passive, while some of her damage and shielding capabilities will also be restored.
