Summary
- Logitech G has launched its latest gaming headset the ‘G522 LIGHTSPEED’
- It has been redesigned with larger ear cups and includes extra memory foam for comfort
- Features high-fidelity 48 kHz/24-bit audio and a high-res 48 kHz/16-bit removable boom mic
Logitech G recently upgraded their LIGHTSPEED series of gaming accessories, launching the G522 LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming headset. This new model is an advancement over the highly acclaimed G733 LIGHTSPEED headset that was introduced in 2020.
The Logitech G522 has undergone an update to provide smoother, more streamlined contours and a refined shape overall. The design is geared towards lengthy gaming sessions, and the brand emphasized providing maximum comfort during development. To achieve this, they expanded the ear cups and incorporated additional memory foam for improved cushioning and cooling effects. This updated model also boasts a new fabric that’s both softer and more durable, along with a redesigned headband that lies flatter and evenly on the head. Logitech G conducted extensive fit testing with various individuals, including glasses-wearers and those with earrings, to ensure a comfortable fit for all users.
Inside, the G522 headset features brand-new PRO-G drivers, claimed by Logitech G to provide exceptional sound quality. Additionally, it boasts a powerful digital signal processor that can output audio at 48 kHz/24-bit, enabling gamers to discern intricate in-game sounds like approaching enemy footsteps more distinctly.
The G522 model comes equipped with a detachable microphone that operates at 48 kHz/16-bit, which incorporates Logitech’s BLUE VO!CE technology. This mic also features a practical mute button on its side. Moreover, the audio from the microphone can be fine-tuned to suit individual preferences, and users have the option to apply various effects and filters through the G HUB software, which are applied in real-time. The Logitech G HUB software, as well as the Logitech G mobile app for iOS or Android devices, provide additional customization options for the headset. These include a 10-band equalizer for sound adjustments, customizable RGB lighting, and three storage slots for personalized profiles.
The G522 offers three methods of connectivity:
1. A high-speed and virtually latency-free wireless connection called LIGHTSPEED by Logitech G.
2. Another wireless option using Bluetooth technology.
3. Wired connectivity via USB-C, allowing users to easily switch between platforms and devices without experiencing lag or complications.
Ahmed Riaz, who leads design at Logitech G, stated that the “G522 headset represents painstaking care in construction and unwavering focus on key details,” further explaining that it integrates “exacting engineering with a comprehensive grasp of what modern gamers prioritize most.
The G522 LIGHTSPEED is available now via Logitech G’s website priced at £139.99 GBP / $159.99 USD.
