Liz Hurley turns heads in a pink sequined figure-hugging gown as she steps out with son Damian for press night of Oliver! on London’s West End

Elizabeth Hurley caused quite a stir in a striking, fitted pink sequin dress at the opening night of Oliver!. Accompanying her was her son, Damian, by her side.

On Tuesday evening, the 59-year-old actress attended the press night performance and subsequent after-party at The Prince of Wales Theatre, which is located in London’s West End. She was joined by several other stars for these events.

At the event, Liz’s appearance was characteristically elegant, showcasing her style in a dazzling pink midi-dress embellished with shimmering sequins that accentuated her figure.

The dress boasted long, streamlined sleeves and a lofty neckline, and she accessorized it with nearly invisible silver stilettos.

For the evening, Liz chose a sleek dark red leather clutch and sparkling pink sequined hoop earrings that complemented her dress.

In a striking appearance, she was accompanied on the crimson carpet by her 22-year-old son Damian. Together, they stood next to television personality Angela Rippon, who graced the event at the ripe age of 80.

Damian exuded an impressive sense of style, donning a pair of eye-catching, low-slung tiger-pattern jeans and a lengthy leather overcoat.

He matched the appearance with sharp leather boots, a transparent black top, and a silver necklace adorned with a cross charm.

Liz, who shares a son named Damian (born from a past relationship with businessman Steve Bing) in the United States, has been aiding him to carve out his unique career trajectory as an emerging film director.

2023 saw the premiere of Strictly Confidential, a debut film written and directed by a 22-year-old, which received mixed critical responses.

A significant portion of the reviews focused on Hurley, particularly her performance in the movie that features an explicit lesbian love scene with a partner three decades younger, which was directed by her own son.

Last month, she clarified that it’s quite intriguing since she is a lone parent, and he is an only child, resulting in us naturally spending a considerable amount of our time with each other.

At a very young age, he developed an intense interest in my profession. By the time he was around nine or ten, he was already creating still photos and small movies. I supplied him with a camcorder, and he cast me as the lead actress in all of his productions.

I often played the role of the Evil Queen in various productions. Notably, my mother and Hugh were also part of these films, along with my former spouse. He made sure everyone appeared in his projects as they transitioned from infant roles to more mature ones.

Essentially, he’s been guiding me for the past ten years, so this new role doesn’t feel much different to me. I guess I’ve grown accustomed to it.

Liz instantly gained widespread recognition as people began to know her by name following her appearance hand-in-hand with Hugh Grant at the red carpet of the Four Weddings and a Funeral premiere, both dressed elegantly in Versace gowns.

And she credits their relationship for helping her navigate a pivotal time in her life.

Although they’ve confessed that they don’t have a romantic relationship anymore, they continue to be good friends since their friendly parting in 2000.

At the Bazaar At Work summit in London last month, she shared: “My ex, Hugh Grant, and I were together when this occurred simultaneously. Similar to me, he had been working diligently, feeling content with his progress, until Four Weddings and a Funeral was released. Suddenly, everything changed – he became an extraordinary sensation.

The movie became incredibly popular, and everything shifted as a result. However, there were two of us involved, which I believe greatly contributed to this success. Being unexpectedly placed in the limelight can be challenging since our lives are not typically prepared for it.

She commented: ‘You lack any safeguards, which was quite unsettling. The media was significantly more aggressive during the 90s and 2000s compared to today. In my opinion, there’s a restriction on how rude people can be nowadays as opposed to back then.’

It feels like a strong connection is forged when you face challenges together, such as working side by side in proverbial ‘trenches’. Though we don’t often cross paths due to his family commitments, he remains deeply important to me.

Pondering over the memorable gown – hastily loaned at the eleventh hour from Dean Aslett, who was the Women’s Wear Chief and Atelier at Versace – Hurley confesses she was taken aback by all the spotlight it attracted.

As I looked back on it, I found myself utterly bewildered. For several years, I’d been immersed in the world of stardom, and I fervently believed that my name was etched into the annals of fame – after all, I had graced a handful of productions. However, when I paused to reflect, it felt incredibly peculiar.

To my loved ones, I seemed like a success, but I didn’t fully comprehend the true meaning of being in the limelight until it happened. This unexpected exposure was quite jarring for my mental well-being.

Instead of saying ‘To my family, I was a success; but I had no idea what it actually meant to really be in the public eye. That was a real shock to one’s psyche.’, this version conveys the same idea more naturally and easier to understand.)
