Basketball star Liz Cambage from Australia surprised her fans with a dramatic new appearance she shared online.
On Tuesday, the 34-year-old WNBL player posted a stunning set of photos on Instagram. She confidently showed off the latest Rick Owens collection while in Los Angeles.
Liz has traded her typical athletic style and natural appearance for a bolder look. During a recent photoshoot, she confidently showed off sleek leather shorts, a worn bomber jacket, and dramatic, dark makeup.
The athlete, originally from London, showed off a fashionable look to a large crowd, revealing her fresh and daring sense of style.
The photoshoot had a cool, fashionable vibe thanks to accessories like black, fringed ankle boots, large leather jackets, and long leather gloves.
With her hair styled back and wet-looking, and dark, smoky makeup, she created a strikingly different and dramatic look than she usually does.
She shared a heartfelt message with photos, expressing her love for the Rick Owens team and how honored she was to collaborate with Rick Owens again.
Many of Liz’s followers took to the comments section to share their appreciation over her new look.
‘Omggg!!! You LOOK AMAZING!!’ one person wrote and a second added: ‘Yessss.’
Liz, a fashion and beauty enthusiast, was seen getting a facial in Melbourne in 2024. This came after she led her team, SiChuan Yuanda, to victory in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association championship.
In April 2024, she caused another uproar during a game in China when she was ejected for hitting one opponent in the head with her elbow and another in the face.
Despite being thrown out of the game, Liz was far from done.
She refused to leave the court and demanded officials review a play on video. Then, she aggressively approached a referee, yelling directly in his face, before sarcastically bowing to the crowd.
A former WNBA player and member of the Australian national basketball team, the Opals, faced career difficulties after reportedly making racially insensitive comments towards the Nigerian national team during a pre-Olympic warm-up game in 2021.
I was absolutely shocked to hear what happened during the game. Several players on both the Opals and the Nigerian team have come forward saying Liz made incredibly hurtful and racist remarks to her opponents during a break in play. They claim she called them ‘monkeys’ and told them to ‘go back to your third world country.’ It’s just appalling and completely unacceptable.
Honestly, it was awful seeing all that drama unfold. It seemed like when she clashed with her teammates on the Sparks – especially the Nigerian-American players – things just spiraled. It was heartbreaking, and ultimately led to them letting her go. I still can’t believe it happened, it felt so unfair!
Her remarks caused a split within the Opals team, and as a result, she will never play for her country again.
She had a major breakthrough when she signed with Sichuan Yuanda. Reports suggest she earned around $1 million for three months of work, culminating in the team’s championship win in the 2024 Women’s Chinese Basketball Association.
