Liverpool Actor James Nelson-Joyce Shortlisted as Potential New James Bond!
It’s been suggested that James Nelson-Joyce could become the new James Bond, and he’s shared his thoughts on potentially playing the famous secret agent.
The Merseyside-born actor, aged 36, has garnered viewers’ interest by portraying crime boss Michael Kavanagh in the BBC’s raw and compelling series titled “This City Belongs to Us.
Previously working with Stephen Graham, James has now left audiences spellbound with his acting alongside Sean Bean. This collaboration has catapulted him into the limelight of mainstream popularity.
Currently, there’s talk circulating that he might be cast for a significant movie part, with bookmakers drastically reducing the chances of him succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
Stepping forward with excitement, I myself admit that the idea of taking on the role of 007, the spy, has piqued my interest greatly. It would truly be an honor, a privilege even, to become the very first Scouser to embody this iconic character.
‘I mean… double oh Scouse, I’m here for it,’ he quipped during an interview with the BBC.

After his appearance in “This City Is Ours,” bookmakers like Coral have significantly increased the likelihood of James becoming the next Bond, shifting from 25-1 to just 6-1.
According to Coral’s John Hill, James Nelson-Joyce has left a significant mark on the latest BBC crime drama series titled “This Is Our City.
‘He has been well backed to become the next James Bond following the opening episode.’
James is being considered for the same role as Theo James from “The White Lotus”, Henry Cavill known for his portrayal of Superman, and James Norton from “Happy Valley”. In simpler terms, he’s one of several potential candidates for this role.
In addition to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harris Dickinson and Jonathan Bailey are also frequently mentioned as strong candidates by fans when discussing potential stars for upcoming roles.
After some recent disclosures, it has been confirmed that James Bond will continue as a male character, hailing from either Britain or a Commonwealth country. This is to allay fan concerns about significant alterations following Amazon’s acquisition of the franchise.
For approximately fifteen years, James has been actively engaged in acting, and he found it extraordinary to find himself under the spotlight following the success of “This City Is Ours.
Ever since its premiere a month ago, the BBC drama has sparked plenty of conversation, leaving viewers anxiously anticipating each new development.

The show chronicles the story of a made-up Liverpool crime clan, with the exploits of characters Michael Kavanagh (played by James) and Diana Williams (portrayed by Hannah Onslow), as their illicit activities start to fall apart.
Exploring their romantic dynamics, the intense drama show traces the ups and downs in the lives of the duo, with Michael juggling his tumultuous criminal life.
In simpler terms, the story revolves around the character played by Sean Bean, named Ronnie Phelan, who is a powerful figure. His choice to step down sets off a struggle for power among his trusted associate Michael and his eldest son Jamie, portrayed by Jack McMullen.
The series spotlights drug trafficking via the Port of Liverpool, as it kicks off with a shipment mysteriously disappearing upon its arrival from Colombia.
Previously known for his roles in series like The Outlaws, Industry, The Gold, and A Town Called Malice, James is now captivating audiences with his performance as the main character in a new drama.
Additionally, he made an appearance in the prison drama “Time,” alongside Sean Bean and Stephen Graham from “Adolescence.” Notably, he had also acted with Stephen Graham in his first major role on “Little Boy Blue.
James and Stephen crossed paths several years ago, not at a formal gathering or an event, but casually at Nando’s. The actor later shared that this encounter significantly impacted his life.
In conversation with the Liverpool Echo, he shared: “I approached him, saying, ‘I admire your work greatly, I’ve recently graduated from drama school, and you’ve truly been an inspiration.’

He was with his spouse, and I decided to give them some privacy. Later, his wife approached me again and said, “Here’s my email address; keep me updated on your plans, and we’ll look after each other.
Three years had passed, and during our rehearsal of Little Boy Blue, Stephen looked at me and silently said, “You’re the guy from Nando’s,” he continued.
‘He mouthed to me ”boss that lad”, and put his thumbs up.’
During the production of the 2017 crime series “Little Boy Blue,” Stephen motivated James to try out for larger parts and connected him with his talent representative.
Additionally, they will be appearing alongside each other in the Netflix series titled “A Thousand Blows,” where Erin Doherty from “Adolescence” is also a part of the cast.
