Live on Air Panic: Sunrise Hosts Caught in Hilarious April Fools’ Day Prank!

Viewers of the sunrise were taken aback as Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington abruptly left the live broadcast on Tuesday due to an unexpected emergency.

During our morning news broadcast at Breakfast Central, an unexpected fire alarm suddenly rang out, causing the team members to scurry around and hastily escort our key personalities away from the set, looking bewildered.

Fortunately, it was soon revealed that the stars, left astounded, had unknowingly become part of a well-crafted April Fool’s joke.

The events began during the coverage of the 60th anniversary of the Sound of Music film release, with Nat, aged 57, and Shirvo, aged 46, serving as reporters.

Suddenly, Nat was cut off when an alarm rang out across the studio floor. 

‘Hey, that’s a fire alarm! We might have to evacuate here,’ Shirvo said as he got to his feet.

Meanwhile, Nat remained firmly seated while the hosts glanced towards their floor team, seeking guidance on the unfolding situation.

Nat asked if we were being instructed to leave due to some reason. Shirvo replied by suggesting that since it was a fire alarm, it would be prudent for us to depart.

Wow, is this actually happening outside the studio?” Nat responded, still remaining in her seat.

‘I don’t want to evacuate my post Shirvo, I think we should stay. I can’t see a fire.’

Eventually, the floor team signaled and instructed Nat and Shirvo to vacate their seats and exit the studio.

Nat announced, “The event continues, it’s happening outside our usual workspaces. We’ve just been informed from within the broadcasting studio that we should depart.” As they walked away from the stage.

Yet, as they were about to step out, Nat suddenly remembered it was April Fool’s Day. Instantly, she halted and turned back towards her post.

Absolutely! We’ve got our performance coming up,” Shirvo chuckled, amused as they showered the duo with golden confetti.

The Sunrise team is well-known for pulling off grand April Fool’s Day tricks, and last year, Shirvo managed to execute one of the most jaw-dropping pranks the studio has ever experienced.

Previously renowned Olympic runner announced that he would be returning from retirement to participate in the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, sharing this news with his fellow cast members and viewers tuning in at home.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself momentarily taken aback when my confidants Nat and Edwina Bartholomew received unexpected news, which later turned out to be nothing more than a clever jest on the part of my comrade Shirvo.

First, allow me to share some news before we proceed. I’ve asked for some time away from work. I just wanted to keep everyone informed about this, Shirvo explained, effectively grabbing the attention of his fellow cast members.

He continued by mentioning that Craig Pickering and Andrew Murphy, well-known athletics coaches, reached out to him and successfully persuaded him to return from his retirement.

I agreed, so I’ll be taking some time away for the Paris Olympic Games as my preparations have already been underway for a few weeks now.

‘I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve definitely trimmed down, gotten a little faster.

‘From here on in, it really is all guns blazing as I prepare for another Olympic Games.’ 

Co-host Nat showed a noticeable shock upon hearing the news, briefly looking towards the camera team for validation.

She expressed great enthusiasm, stating, “This is incredibly thrilling! In fact, it’s exceptionally thrilling,” as she tried to handle the astonishing news calmly.

Shirvo prolonged the jest slightly more, addressing the team with the question: “Could any of you manage without me for about two weeks?

In a playful twist, as Nat and Edwina, aged 41, assured they’d take charge, Shirvo exclaimed jokingly: “Gotcha! April Fool’s Day on you all!

Nat and Edwina could then only laugh as the crew began applauding Shirvo’s ruse.

He stated that he currently isn’t able to race down the track at this moment, not even considering other possibilities. Before expressing his regrets, he acknowledged and appreciated all the exceptional sprinters our nation is fortunate to have.

He said, “I found it surprising that they’d need to invite me back from retirement just for me to join their group.

Edwina hit back with a brutal comment, saying: ‘I don’t think they were worried for very long.’
