Lisa Wilkinson’s Shock Career Move: From TV to Politics?

On Saturday, I couldn’t help but feel like a starstruck fan as I saw Lisa Wilkinson gracefully stepping off her flight at Sydney airport. She carried an understated elegance with just a Celine garment bag in tow – truly embodying the saying “less is more.

65-year-old ex-Channel Ten celebrity, known for her recent departure from The Project in November 2022 and rumored to enter politics, hid her face behind a big pair of dark shades.

With a relaxed yet stylish vibe, the television figure emerged wearing loose-fitting blue denims and a white T-shirt adorned with graphics, layered under a roomy gray jacket.

The TV host donned a laid-back fashionable ensemble, sporting baggy blue jeans and a graphic white shirt beneath an oversized grey coat.

With a stylish pair of white sneakers and a classy brown leather handbag, Lisa walked with her gaze fixed low as she navigated the airport.

She rocked her usual brunette bob and recognisable side-part.

Following reports indicating that Lisa intends to kick off a thrilling political career this year, the news of her alleged spotting arrives.

In January, it was reported by Woman’s Day magazine that her friend said, at 65 years old, she is eager for a fresh opportunity – delving into politics. She’s long been passionate about actively contributing to her local community.

‘She may well just run for a seat in the upcoming election.’

Apart from her recent cryptic post on social media, it appears that Lisa is hinting at being prepared for fresh starts or new chapters.

Following two years on garden leave earning approximately $1.7 million annually, her tenure at Channel Ten concluded quietly during the holiday season in December.

Her multi-year contract lapsed on New Year’s Eve and wasn’t renewed.

In the year 2018, following a well-known salary disagreement at Channel Nine, where it was uncovered that her fellow host, Karl Stefanovic, was receiving a much higher wage than her, Lisa decided to become part of a different network.

Everything was going well when she signed a new deal with Ten in 2021.

However, only a year after, she chose to resign from her position as host of The Project, which was her only on-screen role, due to the intense and continuous scrutiny by the media.

For the past two years, even though she was absent from our screens, she still received a regular monthly salary from Ten, the less prominent sister network of commercial TV, during times of widespread budget reductions in the industry.

Ever since my challenging period as a TV personality, I’ve been gradually reestablishing my public persona. Lately, you might have spotted me making discreet appearances on red carpets, while last year I attended a fashionable gathering of influencers.

It was reported by The Daily Telegraph that she left the attendees of Vegamour’s debut of their latest GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum at Bondi Icebergs in awe.

According to the article, it stated that Lisa’s recent event marked another attempt for her to re-integrate herself into the Sydney social circle.
