Lisa Wilkinson’s Pride: Son Jake Weds Journalist in Intimate Sydney Ceremony
On the weekend, Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t help but sport a beaming sense of pride as her oldest child tied the knot.
In a low-profile ceremony, the celebrity’s son, Jake (age 30), exchanged vows with Mary Ward, a journalist from The Sydney Morning Herald, in Sydney. His younger sister took to social media to share the happy news.
At a recent family gathering, journalist Billi, aged 26, smiled brightly while embracing her child, as captured in her Instagram post.
In her caption, Billi expressed that the recent weekend was the very best for her oldest brother, as she accompanied it with a collection of pictures and brief videos.
Other pictures depicted Jake, with his radiantly smiling spouse, striking poses outside the wedding venue prior to entering a tranquil reception setting.
The video showed them dancing together at their wedding, linked by hands, while a handful of relatives and acquaintances clapped.

In pictures posted by Billi, it’s clear that Jake’s dad, Peter FitzSimons, is smiling too, suggesting a happy family mood even amidst their recent struggles.
Lisa frocked up for the occasion in a bold red gown with a floral design and a retro feel.
Billi exuded elegance, adorning a vibrant orange, sleeveless sheath dress that boasted a charming frill detail at the forefront.
She attended with her new boyfriend, finance whiz kid and former bartender Jared Ellison.
At the wedding, the groom Jake looked sharp in a traditional tuxedo, whereas his bride Mary chose a modern wedding dress featuring a pointed bodice and dreamy bell sleeves reminiscent of a fairy tale.
Mary boasts a wealth of journalism experience, having been employed by esteemed publications such as Sydney Morning Herald, HuffPost, MSN Australia, Good Food, The Daily Beast, and The Age.
Apart from his roles, Jake is involved in media as Editor of Commander’s Herald and a historical investigator with Woosel, too.
Lisa and broadcasting professional Peter have been a family since their marriage in 1992. They are blessed with three grown-up kids: sons Jake and Louis, aged 28, and a daughter named Billi.

Previously, the TV host had shared her delight when she proved wrong those who doubted their relationship would not endure. This joy came after she married Peter in 1992, just nine months following their initial meeting.
In a recent Instagram post, she mentioned that when she encountered Pete all the way back at Christmas in 1991, several people, even her loving and protective mother, predicted our relationship wouldn’t endure.
‘[We] are still defying those who thought we wouldn’t make it.’
It emerged last year that Lisa’s daughter has taken after her media-savvy parents by being named editor-in-chief at a social media news platform called The Daily Aus.
Billi FitzSimons announced the promotion after having previously been an editor.
She expressed excitement about expanding the variety of content we provide, encompassing podcasts, surveys, videos, and newsletters.
‘We have big plans this year, and I can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.’
The Daily Aus is a social media-based news aggregator with over 500,000 followers on Instagram.

It targets Gen Z and Millennials with easy-to-digest news stories and explainer articles.
In reaction to the news, his father, Peter FitzSimons (previously a well-known rugby player now turned writer) exclaimed, “Wow!
Family tradition has journalism as its core – Wilkinson began editing the popular women’s magazine “Dolly” at the tender age of 21, an accomplishment that is said to have tripled its readership.
Following this remarkable accomplishment, she was directly contacted by the influential media tycoon, Kerry Packer, for an opportunity to lead the women’s lifestyle magazine, Cleo.
As a committed enthusiast, I ventured into the realm of television journalism and carved out a prosperous path. I graced the airwaves as the host of the popular morning show, Today, and subsequently found myself contributing insights as a panelist on The Project.
Her career appears to have hit a roadblock following the aftermath of her contentious interview with ex-Liberal employee Brittany Higgins, and she hasn’t made any television appearances for quite a while now.
Although she doesn’t face the same magnitude of turmoil as her mother did, FitzSimons has certainly encountered her portion of challenges since securing the editor position at The Daily Aus prior to turning 25 years old.
In June 2022, instead of displaying the Aboriginal flag, which has red, yellow, and black colors, on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a website opted to superimpose the German flag instead.

In just one day, FitzSimons shared a job vacancy seeking a detail-oriented fact checker.
The young person has been identified as one of Australia’s ‘nepotism children’ due to their parentage being part of journalistic nobility.
At the university, FitzSimons’ mother secured his first writing position on the news site Mamamia by reaching out to her former protegee, Mia Freedman, and asking for a favor.
During university, FitzSimons was employed by Mamamia. Immediately following his graduation, he secured a position as a political writer at The Daily Aus.
In 2019, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Media and Communications, with a focus on Government and International Relations, as well as Digital Cultures, from the University of Sydney.
But not everything has been handed to FitzSimons.
Previously, her father disclosed that she worked part-time at Domino’s pizza shop for about four years starting from when she was 14. This way, she managed to earn money during her school years.
According to reports, it seems that Lisa is planning to reappear on television after a prolonged absence, having spent several monotonous weeks in court.

channel ten’s popular morning show host, who used to be a beloved figure on breakfast television, expresses eagerness to conduct more high-profile interviews starting from the New Year, according to what friends shared with The Weekend Australian.
In November 2022, Wilkinson left The Project, and since then, she has not been seen on television in a recurring acting capacity.
Lisa also lately posted a cryptic message on social media hinting at her preparedness for ‘fresh starts’.
Following a two-year break from work, during which she received approximately $1.7 million annually, her tenure at Channel Ten came to an anticlimactic end around the Christmas season.
Her multi-year contract lapsed on New Year’s Eve and wasn’t renewed.
2018 saw me, a passionate admirer, leap onto the network, driven by a well-known salary disagreement at Nine. It was during this tumultuous time that I uncovered the fact that my beloved co-host, Karl Stefanovic, was pocketing a much larger paycheck than myself.
Everything was going well when she signed a new deal with Ten in 2021.
A little over a year ago, she chose to leave her position as the host of The Project, which was her only on-screen role, due to the exhausting and focused media attention she had been receiving.

For the past two years, she’s been receiving a regular salary from Ten, a channel less remembered in television, even though there have been widespread budget reductions across the industry.
After encountering some difficulties, Lisa has gradually been restoring her public persona. In the past few months, she has made discreet appearances at high-profile events on the red carpet, and last year, she attended an exclusive gathering of popular influencers.
At the debut of Vegamour’s latest GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum for their wellness line, held at Bondi Icebergs, she took everyone by surprise, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.
According to the publication, it stated that Lisa’s recent outing was part of her attempts to re-integrate herself into Sydney’s social circle.
