Lisa Wilkinson looks ahead to ‘new beginnings’ as her Channel 10 contract ends after ‘challenging’ few years
Lisa Wilkinson has shared a look back at her life in recent years as she faces a new horizon.
On Sunday, the popular TV personality shared an Instagram video highlighting events from 2022 onward, since their contract with Channel Ten has concluded.
After my tenure at Channel Ten has formally ended (and the past couple of years have presented some difficulties), there were many moments of joy as well, she expressed in her caption.
‘Here’s to 2025, and new beginnings,’ the 65-year-old added.
Lisa’s photos included glimpses at her time on The Project, which she left in November 2022.
Additional photographs depicted Lisa alongside singer Delta Goodrem, along with Olivia Newton-John and her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, striking poses together.
She too was smiling during the capture of a cute selfie alongside ex-colleague Carrie Bickmore, who has moved on from The Project just like herself, and snuggling with Hamish Macdonald.
Following a two-year sabbatical earning approximately $1.7 million annually, Wilkinson’s stint at Channel Ten concluded quietly during the holiday season in December.
Her multi-year contract lapsed on New Year’s Eve and wasn’t renewed.
In 2018, Wilkinson entered the network following a well-known salary disagreement at Nine, where she found out that her fellow Today show host, Karl Stefanovic, was being paid noticeably more than her.
Everything was going well when she signed a new deal with Ten in 2021.
However, only a year after, she resigned from her position as host of The Project, which was her only on-screen job. She attributed her departure to the exhausting and focused media scrutiny she had been subjected to.
For the past two years, even though she wasn’t visible on our screens, she still received a monthly salary from Ten, the lesser-known sibling of commercial television, amidst widespread cost-cutting measures across the industry.
Wilkinson has since since been slowly building back her public image.
Over the past few months, the controversial television personality has discreetly attended several red carpet functions, while last year graced an exclusive gathering for popular influencers.
Visitors were taken aback during the unveiling of Vegamour’s latest GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum at Bondi Icebergs, as per a report in The Daily Telegraph.
Previously recognized figure, the Project star, seemed carefree and content while interacting with notable personalities such as Simone Holtznagel and Amy Castano among others at the event.
As I aim to reconnect with the vibrant Sydney social circle, I find myself making more and more appearances, according to recent publications.
Last August, I couldn’t hide my joy as I graced the red carpet for the premiere of Sunset Boulevard in Sydney.
Despite facing difficulties, the troubled TV personality entered the Sydney Opera House with a radiant demeanor, exuding elegance along the way.
Furthermore, towards the end of August, she interacted with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at a Cauliflower Club rugby event.
In March, Wilkinson stepped out for the opening night of & Juliet in Sydney.
According to reports, it appears that Lisa is planning to come back on TV after several quiet months and five long weeks in the courtroom, sources suggest.
According to reports from The Weekend Australian, the popular morning TV host who once graced Channel 10 is eager to resume conducting more high-profile interviews when the new year arrives, as shared by close friends.
In November 2022, Wilkinson stepped down from The Project, but she continues to be employed by Ten until the end of 2024. For more than a year now, she has not been seen on the channel.
Even though Wilkinson took an extended break from the network, she continued to be noticeable due to her involvement in a widely discussed defamation case.
She found herself involved in a legal dispute with Bruce Lehrmann, who had filed a lawsuit against Network 10 and Wilkinson, following the airing of an interview with Brittany Higgins on The Project and its online platforms.
During the last five weeks of the court’s operational year, the defamation case was heard by the court. Justice Lee has yet to announce his verdict on this issue.
Supporters of Wilkinson argue that her numerous court appearances have benefited her as a television personality, providing her with consistent media attention.
According to former executive Peter Meakin speaking with The Weekend Australian, “She’s been away from television for some time now, but I doubt anyone would have forgotten her.
‘I’m sure her loyal followers will remain loyal.’
Network Ten maintains they are in talks to develop ‘other projects’ with Wilkinson.
