Lisa Snowdon’s Hesitation: Marrying George Smart After 8 Years?

Lisa Snowdon has openly expressed her hesitations regarding tying the knot with George Smart, eight years since their engagement.

20-odd years back, the woman who later established her own communications company (aged 44), and the man who founded the channel (aged 53) initially went out together. At that time, she was a popular DJ at MTV, while he managed their events.

The lovebirds rekindled their romance a decade ago and got engaged in 2017.

When queried about their plans to get married, Lisa confessed she has a slight hesitation because she believes marriage might alter their current bond.

In her conversation with The Mirror, she expressed, ‘Though I rationally understand that it wouldn’t, a part of me doubts, citing my parents’ divorce as an example and people’s warnings about how such decisions can alter circumstances.’

As much as 90% of me is certain that nothing would alter, deep down, there’s this minuscule sliver of doubt, a whisper of uncertainty, that wonders if anything might be different.

George expressed that he wouldn’t have any second thoughts and would happily marry Lisa the very next day, assuming they could gather all of their far-flung friends together.

He informed the media outlet that he believes ‘nothing will alter’ and is prepared to ‘demonstrate courage’ by taking ‘the subsequent action’.

When asked about what she’s looking forward to most about getting married, Lisa shared her enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled at the prospect of calling him ‘my spouse’ and exclaiming, ‘My significant other is on his way; all I need now is for him to arrive!’ To be honest, I find ‘my husband’ more appealing than ‘my fiancé.’ It feels wonderful!

The pair, fresh from their Caribbean vacation marking Lisa’s 53rd birthday, have plans for further trips, including destinations like Chile, Peru, Thailand, and Guatemala in the time ahead.

Regarding television work, they expressed enthusiasm about having their very own travel series, and George humorously suggested the title for it could be “Couples Travel.

Previously, the individual who was once a contestant on Britain’s Next Top Model announced that she experienced early menopause and accepted that she would not be able to biologically conceive children with her partner, George.

In 2021, she shared with The Sun that although we had talked about it earlier, we hadn’t begun attempting it, which meant that in the future, if we wished to be parents, we would need to consider alternative methods.

George was incredibly insightful and shared that there might be other options for us to explore down the line. Adjusting to this information was quite challenging.

That same year, Lisa disclosed that she started taking antidepressants due to the onset of depressive feelings and anxiety brought about by her premature menopause.

10 years back, the presenter, battling endometriosis, found herself grappling with depression, unaware that her symptoms were related to approaching menopause.

During her guest spot on Lorraine, she shared that her experience on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2016 was exacerbated by severe menstrual pains, fatigue, and confusion (or mental cloudiness).

The model said she relied on the pill to stop her irregular cycle.

Only after starting Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), did Lisa truly take charge of her own health.

She hailed the treatment as a ‘game-changer’ and insisted she ‘wouldn’t be without it’.

Looking back, it seemed to sneak up on me gradually; there wasn’t a specific day when I realized I was entering perimenopause,” she explained.

Now Lisa takes HRT for her symptoms and says that she no longer has ‘rages’ or ‘screams’ at George.

She has been taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for approximately four years now, and it has become an essential part of her life. It has truly transformed her existence; it’s been nothing short of revolutionary, she stated.

‘I feel like myself again, I’m not screaming at my partner, I don’t have rages.

It feels as though I’m rediscovering who I am, and I’ve regained control over managing my wellbeing.
