Lisa Snowdon, 53, reveals the secret behind her increasingly-toned bikini figure – after presenter claims she ‘lost herself when she packed on weight during menopause’

The speaker, who is 53 years old, has openly discussed the unexpected weight increase she encountered following her transition into perimenopause around the age of 45.
Indeed, my life took an unexpected turn when Lisa’s early menopause struck. Over the course of a year, I found myself accumulating nearly three times the usual weight around my waist, leaving me feeling quite overwhelmed. Moreover, this life-changing event brought along a thick fog in my mind, making it challenging to think clearly, and an undercurrent of anxiety that seemed to never cease. To top it off, I experienced sudden, unprovoked fits of anger that left me feeling out of control. It’s been quite a rollercoaster ride, but Lisa’s journey has given me a deeper understanding and empathy for those going through menopause.
However, the brunette model, now a prominent advocate for menopause awareness, has gained more self-assurance in recent times and frequently displays her striking figure with pride.
This past week, Lisa ignited excitement by posting a video showing her enjoying the Italian sunlight while wearing a fiery red bikini with leopard spots.

In an interview with Closer Magazine, she unveiled the mystery of her impressive weight reduction at age 53.
She mentioned that she engages in a significant amount of weight lifting. She emphasized her desire to grow stronger as she advances in age, stating it’s made a tremendous impact on her life. Typically, she rises at 5am and attends workout sessions three or four times a week at the gym.
As a lifestyle expert, I firmly believe that movement is indeed our medicine, and as I enter my golden years in my 50s, I understand the importance of building muscle mass and boosting bone density. However, it’s crucial to remember that not everyone responds similarly to high-impact activities like running or HIIT workouts, as they can elevate cortisol levels, which might not be ideal for some. For me, I’ve found a balance by incorporating Pilates into my routine. It offers a gentle yet effective way to strengthen muscles and maintain flexibility, making it a great choice for many, including women like myself.
Despite finding Lisa’s 5am wake-up call and daily regimen challenging to imitate, she still provided a glimpse into the straightforward adjustments in her diet that she’s implemented since reaching 50 years old.
The presenter makes certain that, along with her gym routine, she includes protein in all three of her daily meals.
For breakfast, Lisa typically has Greek yogurt accompanied by granola, nuts, seeds, and kiwi slices. Lunch usually consists of either grilled salmon or chicken for her.
During the evenings, the presenter and her fiancé, George Smart, frequently indulge in a nutritious meal like a chickpea and potato bake. However, Lisa confessed that they do opt for a curry delivery and share some beers now and then as well.
Regarding her diet, Lisa mentioned that she always has lean protein on hand. She explained that protein helps keep you feeling full for an extended period and is incredibly beneficial for the brain, bones, and muscles. She added that she functions better when she includes it in her meals.



In 2018, during a regular check-up at the doctor’s office that included blood tests, Lisa was informed for the first time that she might be experiencing perimenopause.
Over the subsequent years, her self-assurance noticeably waned alongside a swift increase in her weight. Back then, the host had confided to Closer magazine in 2024 that this transformation left her feeling quite isolated.
She confided: ‘There were periods so bleak that I wondered, “Is this all there is to my life? I can’t carry on,” I felt so isolated and perplexed. I no longer recognized myself.’
During perimenopause and menopause, these stages can significantly affect one’s self-confidence, causing me to momentarily feel disconnected from myself.
Despite not having children yet, Lisa has come to terms with the reality that she and George will not be able to have biological offspring.
As a die-hard fan, I’d excitedly share: “I’ve always been open about our desire to start a family, and while we’ve talked about it before, we hadn’t yet begun trying. So, you can imagine my anticipation as I envision the possibilities of parenthood in our future, should we choose to explore alternative routes.
George handled it admirably and suggested we might explore other options later on. It was quite challenging to accept.
Lisa has since become a supporter of Wellbeing of Women’s Let’s #ChatMenopause campaign.
In a campaign video focused on the impact of menopause on both men and women, the ex-host of Britain’s Next Top Model disclosed that George has been a source of strength for her.

‘I started experiencing menopause symptoms in my early forties and it really threw me,’ she said.
In simpler terms, ‘I felt intense bouts of anxiety, sadness, loss of self-assurance, and rage. This wasn’t typical behavior for me, and I often questioned my identity. There were times when I didn’t feel like going to work or even leaving home.’
George has been a pillar of support for me. His patience, understanding, and positive outlook are unparalleled, making him one of the finest individuals I’ve encountered. One of the factors influencing my endorsement of the Let’s #ChatMenopause campaign is his inspiring demeanor.
I strongly believe it’s essential to involve men in this discussion as well. Menopause impacts more than just women; it also affects partners, husbands, sons, fathers, friends, and colleagues – essentially, many men in our lives.
