Lisa Kudrow’s cult ’90s comedy is finally getting a sequel
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is finally getting a sequel.
Discussion about a sequel to the popular ’90s show, featuring Lisa Kudrow from Friends and Mira Sorvino of Hollywood, has been ongoing for years, but finally, it seems this project is moving forward.
It’s been reported that the pair are close to sealing a deal for acting roles and producing duties, with Tim Federle of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” set to direct, and filming anticipated to kick off in LA around June.
As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but express my excitement about the upcoming sequel! Though the specifics of the storyline remain under wraps for now, I’m thrilled to know that Robin Schiff, our talented screenwriter, and Laurence Mark, our seasoned producer, will once again grace us with their skills in their respective roles. Here’s to an unforgettable journey ahead!
Sorvino posted a snapshot of the article regarding the sequel on her Instagram, and in the caption she expressed: “We’re really looking forward to it!
At the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Kudrow and Sorvino stepped onto the stage dressed up in costumes reminiscent of their movie characters, adorned with numerous sticky notes.
Reflecting on the timeless appeal of the movie, “Romy and Michele,” I can’t help but marvel at its lasting charm. I believe it’s the genuine portrayal of nerd friendship that resonates so deeply. It’s about rising above life’s challenges with a sprinkle of silliness, all while embracing our own perceived stupidity. We may think we’re smart, but in reality, we’re just plain dumb. Yet, there’s this unbreakable bond of love between Romy and Michele that makes us root for them, despite their blunders.
We end up doing pointless things just to win others over, but eventually, we understand that we’re already wonderful in our own way – through the love we share and our unique quirks.
